Right, well show the owners the statistic that says 24 goals in 22 games (of which two were own goals), and hopefully a nice cheque will be on its way to Napoli in exchange for Cavani!!
'happy with the current squad' i hope thats a joke
The old 'right man at the right price' statement. Only problem with that being our owners (historically) only ever seem to compromise on the 'right man' part. A proven goal scorer, and preferably one thats done it in our league, would be a great lift
I agree. The owners need to out their money were their mouth is. We have had a very low net spend since they have come in.
However, the owners are possibly being over cautious on paying transfer fees, ala Carroll, and probably rightly so.
But, if Cavani is going for 30 mill, he wants to come and will take getting paid either same or less than gerrard, then we should not be hesitating to write a cheque out.
They paid 20 mill for downing and cleared a hell of lot of players off the wage bill. Surely their is some fat wonga knocking round. We've been led to believe this is the case?

Unless Cavani is a closet Liverpool fan, I don't see him moving to your club in January. Especially with Napoli still in the CL. Maybe in the summer though...
January is not a good time to buy players.
Everyone can see we need to add in certain areas, I am sure the management and board are not stupid, but that doesn't mean who they want is available or at the best price.
I still think we might add one or two before the end of January, but if you were expecting us to spend £50m this month, frankly you were a bit deluded.
We only did it last year because the club was in free fall, the owners needed to lift the whole place, and Torres was leaving so it was considered (wrongly in my opinion) that we needed an immediate replacement.
Every top club Europe does most of its business in the summer, that will continue to be the case.
just as a matter of interest, how does the new owners net spending compare with H & G ? I am not wumming I don't know the answer but it I recall H & G splashing some cash for Torres etc. Ironically the same player that has since funded some of Kenny's purchases.
I don't think H & G spent much at all they just borrowed the money against the club.
i have no doubt that that is true, but how much was spent whilst they were in control.
i may have answered my own question

>.just as a matter of interest, how does the new owners net spending compare with H & G ?
H&G were spending negative sums of money, the new lot are spending positive sums of money.
Which is a significant improvement.
the facts dont bear that out though
mind you, have a look at this, its shocking

The exciting time is usually the last two days of the transfer window, but somehow I get the feeling there is not going to be a lot to get excited about next Monday and Tuesday!
Jeez, vector in the hike in wages and I'm surprised City haven't exploded!
You know, it wouldn't surprise me if we buy somebody...
Yeah so they have spent 30 mill. United spent 50 or more in the summer. So, by retrospect, they have spent very little for a high earning club. I think tottenham have spent more than we have net, for the same period.
this one is really interesting showing net spend of everyone since the start of the premier league

Arsenal just over 1m a season, incredible.
When you look at per season, it doesn't equate to much at all. It's all been spread out over time. Crazy how man city in such a short period time have caught up with the majority if the league.
i was just thinking that, and look at their spend in the last 6 years, since they moved stadia, its negative
Well ffp should them out. That's if they follow through with it. Mind you, since the frog doesn't like English teams, he might just make an example of them. City out of the CL for a few seasons could damage them. Not financially, but players will leave without it.
lets face it if City qualify under the FFP rules then you may as well put them in the bin. But PSG are doing exactly the same thing and I cant see Platini coming down hard on them.
