Is all their fans still their supporting them, that did when they were in the senior leagues ???

" thousands of fans won't just stop supporting a club so easily"

Your opinion of one thats why we are having a debate on the issue not an argument. so stop looking for stuff that isn't their

I don't hate anyone in football. It's only a game, and hate is a strong word.

The rivalry hasn't been going for "centuries". Maybe a century at most, more than likely less than that.

Would there be a rivalry? Not for at least 3 years, as they would start in the 3rd division.

Dundee and Dundee Utd have a very tame rivalry with Dundee being in the first division.
When Hibs got relegated in 1998, the rivalry between Hearts and Hibs died down dramatically.

The banter is still there, but that's it.

If we were in different leagues, there wouldnt be much rivalry. As they wouldnt actually be rivals. The same as Partick Thistle aren't our rivals, because they don't rival us.

Pie - I ask again, who says rangers will be in the 3rd division?

From what I've read, even with a Phoenix club, that wouldn't be the case.

if Rangers go under, Celtic will also be in big trouble too.

the tv money Celtic gain from OF derbies will go, and any interest from outside Scotland for the SPL will disappear aswell.

well, thats the way i see it.

You have to apply to be allowed into the scottish league.

You cannot be granted access into the SPL if you go into liquidation.

You would have to start from the bottom teir. If you are allowed into the 3rd division. Spartans have been asking for entry for years, so you'd have to fight it out with them.

tv money is a pittance so that would be totally irrelevant

Pie your right about entry to the leagues 100% but they could always change the rules as rangers are too big not to be allowed

I was only stating current rules.

No doubt the SFA would help them out and change the rules though.

Pie - from what I've read, even with a Phoenix rangers, we would be straight into spl.

There was a good NBC article on it. Will try and find it and give you the link

wouldn't be suprised if elite is right, but it must have been a recent change because we canny have rangers being relegated especially to division 3 all that great sky tv money would disappear

A mate of mine is a qualified SFA ref (one of the main reasons im always on here correction folk on the rules. Cause the nippy sweetie does it to me when we're watching games in the boozer!), and he looked into it a few weeks back. He said that the legislation would have any team that goes into liquidation would be relegated to the 3rd division.
The way that Rangers could get round this is by scrapping the club and re-applying to the SPL under a new name.
This would go to an SPL vote, which I'm assuming they'd win because the clubs need them.
However, if they go into liquidatoion and get relegated to the 3rd division 1st and then tried the 'phoenix club' route, they would re-enter at the 3rd division level.

Long way to go before this is even a possibility.

Pie - cant find the bbc article but it's what you mentioned regards an spl vote

The new company can apply to the spl. Think we all know they will be allowed back in. Third division etc ain't going to happen

Third division etc ain't going to happen.

It will have to happen if the SFA don't want to be seen as a laughing stock.....oh, wait.
