kohli with the way he is going, i think will be able to break tendulkars record of odi centuries. I think he is a very quick learner and i see him doing very well in tests as well as odis anywhere in the world. the passion of batting well is tremendous. I have to agree that he is currently the best odi batsman, and will not be long before he does this in tests as well. just need to be promoted up the order to no.3 or 4 in tests and runs will start flowing

Do Indians actually care more than just indivdual records?
He looks a future Indian skipper but still needs to improve in test cricket which has too many IPL germs about it.
I've always rated Kohli very highly & he is a fantastic player but i think the OP has just came in his pants!
Choppingwood do you agree Kohli > Ponting.

He is impressive and will be a world class in near future but Rohit has better technique.

kash thats the thing, kohli as a player has got all it takes to do very well in tests. he is currently india's best batsman, whether t20, odis or tests. he is one of those indian batsman that can deal very well with the short pitch ball. you cant say that about other indian youngsters.
Oh my word did someone just say is kohli better than ponting? seriously? the guy has been in the team for 2 minutes and your comparing him to a legend in the game! words fail me here.
Anyway kohli is good, but Rohit Sharma will do better in my opinion. India do have 2 very talented batsmen and i hope they get the opportunity to showcase their talents together in the test area soon in place of gambhir and laxman with sachin moving to opening.

Kohli is the player in the mould of ponting.
Why?
Bcoz, his temperament, competitiveness, class and toughness.
Rohit is traditional "just keep batting" gentle batsman in the mould of his country's elderly batsman.
Kohli>>>rohit.
Rohit,i think he is indian version of ian bell.too gentle.
Kohli will b more successful.
Entertainer!
ahh, but Choppin,,,,,
i would help his cause of becoming, ( note the use of the word "becoming" because he is nowhere near that point) the "finest" of batsmen.
he has talent and spirit, and loads of concentration.
but does he have the arena, the team the support and perseverence.
only time will tell.
so other than that he is an awesome prospect
i would help his cause of becoming
damn typo mmmblmbtewmlb- meant

Chandimal looks a better prospect. Made runs in South Africa while being an emergency wicketkeeper, made runs in England and now making runs in Austrailia. The only team he failed against was Pakistan.
Chandimal is another ,but I dont think in the same class. But he can be a great wicket-keeper-batsman for the coming generation, for sure.
