referees get more abuse, more media scrutiny, more criticism than most players yet they get less well paid and a lot less respect than they (or i should say 'we' deserve.

without referees, there would be no football. end of. period.

If they think they can do better, go for it. If not, they should shut up as they have the opportunity to do it and choose not to.
