Brian Little

In the article on Brian Little on the Villa web site today, they say he only had one cap for England, at Wembley. I'm sure he came on as substitute along with Lineker in the Mexico world cup, sending a superb cross which Lineker equally superbly netted, thus saving England's bacon.

Can anyone confirm?

No! Little was 33 at the Mexico World Cup in 1986. don't think he was even in the squad - you may be thinking of Peter Beardsley (also a Tyneside lad)

You're right. The old grey cells aren't what they used to be...

Brian Little did only win one cap and that was a substitute appearence against, I think, Wales at Wembley and it lasted about 10 minutes.

The cross for Lineker in the 1986 World Cup may have been by Steve Hodge.

Yeah i too am pretty sure his one and only cap came against wales. when you think of some of the dross who have subsequently gained caps, you question why only one!

You're right. According to Wikipedia it was Steve Hodge who did the superb cross.
