Morning Spurs fans,
What's everyone's expectations for the 2012/13 season?
I know a lot will depend on who we sign and how the current players react to AVB, maybe he can talk Modric into staying?
For me Champions League is the target, but I think if we miss out the season may still of been a good one depending on if I deem the club to have made progress.
AVB is a great start and if some of the signings that are rumoured to be occurring take place we could be in a very strong position.
I hope we sign 1 CB, 1 GK, 1 RW, 2 CF (For the squad, not necessarily all 1st team players)
I think this is the minimum we need to continue to progress and hopefully all of the players will be 25 or under (Levy’s type of buy) not the over 30’s club we have become in the last 2 years.
For me I have set a points target of 70, this would equal our best ever points total.
I would also like to see someone score 20 league goals. We haven't done this since Klinsmann in 94-95.
A good run in the UEFA, follow this years logic of playing younger players to help them develop, progress through the group then introduce some more senior players for knockout rounds. If we make the last 16 we should be playing our best squad and trying to win this.
An FA and League cup run would be nice, but I would take a 3rd round knockout in both rather than lose in the semi (only so we could concentrate more on the league)
All in though I have to admit I really want Champions League football for 2013/14, but wouldn’t necessarily call the season a bad one if we don’t make it, all depends on the quality of our football over the whole 10 months
What are your hopes or expectations for the season ahead?
COYS
WUMS, and Trolls will be deleted if they don’t add anything to the discussion.

Cheer Spursboy - to this - I just hope that if we miss out we don't act rashly and sack AVB, he's a young exciting manager, let's give him time to stamp his mark, unlike a certain team did.

Samways - looks like we're building a new team there! I agree with all of them though!
Does anyone know which youngsters we have high hopes for over the next 2 years, just thinking we may not sign new cover if we expect someone to break through. I'm thinking Townsend and Smith are the next 2 after Caulker, Rose and Livermore. But I don't have the knowledge of our youth team as some do.

Carroll and Pritchard are Modric-esque.
But they need toughing up to make it.
Luongo is Gazza-esque.
Coulibaly is weapons-grade, if he sorts his first touch.

Agree 100% give him time to build a great time and ignore the wums that will be out every time we drop points

Cheers RDBD - Are they the best 4 prospects we have currently? Do you see any future for Kane, he disappointed in Europa but seemed to score a few goals for Millwall at the end of the season.

"Are they the best 4 prospects we have currently?"
The stand-outs (IMHO) from last seasons' Europa/Nextgen campaigns.
"Do you see any future for Kane, he disappointed in Europa but seemed to score a few goals for Millwall at the end of the season."
No. Others said this well before me too.
Again, would love him to prove me wrong.
On that note : anyone know if the blah blah about loaning him to Southampton was actually true ??

I think what people are forgetting (understandable given the previous manager!) is that football is very much a squad game and all of these players will be rotated. So it could be Sigurdsson for one game, VDV for another and both for another (or neither!). There could even be chances for players we think will go as they won't necessarily just be warming the bench, they may actually get some game time.

Agree 100%
Problem last couple of yrs has been Harry not trusting his bench so we need to make sure we have just as good a players on the bench to come on like other top teams have

Yep, or play instead of them. Sandro could've played instead of Parker in more matches, for example. If Hudd had been fit he'd never have got in the team but could have come in sometimes to give Modric or Parker a rest. We did have good players on the bench, but Harry was either too scared to use them or put too much faith in sticking with a settled team, which was great for the first half of the season but not so much when the players got tired in the second half.
