So i have the following down as our midfielders, all of which i'd think will be hoping to start and would start in the majority of other prem clubs.
Michael Essien
Oriol Romeu
Ramires
Frank Lampard
Juan Mata
John Obi Mikel
Kevin De Bruyne
Florent Malouda
Raul Meireles
Eden Hazard
Josh McEachran
Marko Marin
Yossi Benayoun
Gaël Kakuta
Oscar
+ Viktor Moses if rumours are to be believed
Who do you loan, sell, play, bench?
16 Midfielders?!

Its actually not even about Mikel playing cutting passes from deep, he does do that sometimes, although not enough.
His biggest weakness is that he does not make his short passes quick enough and that can mean we miss too many opportunities to counter

Romeu is much better than Mikel in spotting the short pass early & executing it and he suits the style of play I am guessing we want to play this season.
But as a less experienced player he is weak positionally for the role & he was found out defensively last season.
If/when he can learn this I think he can become one of the best ever to play that role, better than Maka even.

Gosh poor Mikel. We have die hard haterz like Npe and others who think playing Championship Manager or Fifa makes them better managers than the special one, RDM, Ancelotti, Scolari and even Hiddink.
The fact is that while Mikel is not not Messi or Ozil he is simply one of our most disciplined and talented Midfielders, and has been an integral part of most of our Final winning teams.
The only Manager that seemed to listen to you fans, probably played too much Fifa and decided not to play Lampard Mikel , drogba and so on was AVB. Result? he spent less time at the helm than most of our previous Managers.
No matter what you say Mikel, Essien and Lampard bring experience and steel to our midfield, I do not think a midfield of oscar, romeu and Josh will survive without them alongside. So stop playing dream team manager and respect what these legend will bring to the party.

Gazza.........
For me Ramires most potent weapon is how he can just blast past players, either with the ball, but also without the ball & they just can't stay with him.
So for me I always want him to be able to use that weapon in a game. At right wing it is harder for him to do this, but not impossible, but the problem is because he is not a natural winger he is not a great crosser of the ball from a dangerous position.
I like him in the Ballack role or the old Essien role the most.

Malouda is Old, Selfish and Lazy. Mangers Saw that and so they do not play him, except Ancelotti.
Mikel is young, certainly not lazy and definitely not selfish, he does his job and maybe to desciplined in his role that he tries to follow the managers instructions to the T. And please tell me, the managers that have not taken him seriously? He played most of Scolari's games, at a young age, he was in Mourinho's teams, Gran'ts teams, played quite a few of hiddinks matches.
Every accepts he was one of the few we can say helped us win the big one along with Drogba, Lampard and Ramires. Most of the Finals we have played he has started
So who apart from the tool AVB has not taken him seriously.
