People saying Giggs played well

he constantly gave the ball away and left Evra massively exposed. This result is just papering over the cracks. The 1st 60 minutes was some of the slowest football i've ever seen us play. It was horrible.

Fair play to Van Persie and Carrick who wet and took the game by the scruff of the neck. Thought Carrick was pretty awful the first 60 minutes or so but he really took control of the game in the last 30.

Does anybody know what happened to Young and Welbeck?
When Kagawa, Nani and Anderson supposed to be back?
Why can't Evans and Ferdinand head the ball?

It's not that he had a bad game, the point that i'm making is that he just isn't good enough anymore. Even at his current best his lack of legs (coupled with Scholes) just makes it way too easy for opposition teams to ru through the midfield hence Fergie needs to do something about his midfield.

If Cleverley had played instead of Scholes we'd have been fine.

Giggs should only play on the left wing - ideally off the bench. However, with so many players missing, he was our best option to start on the wing yesterday.

Scholes should only be starting if we are playing with 3 CMs. If he is playing in a 2 man CM then you should only be playing the last 30 minutes of games.

That's why he doesn't start many, but yesterday Fergie had no choice. We had 5 players who can play on the left out, there's barely a club in the world that can have that many players out and field someone as good as Giggs.

I'm not saying Giggs should start games, I just said he played well yesterday and Carrick was immense yesterday.

Carrick wasn't immense all game. He was immense for the last 30 minutes. Before that his poor touch kept getting us into trouble, he was slow on the ball and up to his usual act of F all. However in the last 30 minutes I agree he was quality, he searched for the ball and was playing amazing passes. Helped whe Cleverly came on for Scholes. But Carrick was far from being immense all game.

First he was very poor. Constantly giving the ball away.

In the second half, he seemed to play wider on the left and he gave their full back all kinds of trouble. And he put in some fabulous crosses.

This, first half giggs was gash, second he was brilliant.
also when clevs came on Carrick turned into a different player

I agree, OP. It is an indictment of how far our standards have fallen that a mediocre performance by Giggsy yesterday is lauded as a masterclass in wing play.

If Giggsy put in the same performance a decade ago, it will be said as average but because he showed a few glimpses, his acolytes are impressing upon us with onanistic fervour how good he is.

Giggs is an ok LW - at his age - but a terrible CM and should get his P45 this summer - that is what it is!

Cleverley came on saved us, then it left space for our attackers and players like carrick to do what he likes. 1st half was just painful to watch, similar to the 1st half against tottenham at home.

Has anyone actually lauded it is a masterclass? Most have said that he played ok/well. That is about it. In comparison to our other wingers this season, it wasn't a bad performance irrespective of his age.

That isn't to say that I think he should be starting and he probably wouldn't have if not for all the injuries. But he is still decent back-up on that left wing.

I was at the game yesterday.
Carbuaseco (sic), we play witha squad rotation aespecially arpound this period. We also have a few players unavailable trough injury. Agree on Scholes but you are talking out of your rear end when it came to Giggs display yesterday. He was tracking back a lot in the first half but I would have thought at half time he was told by SAF to go for the jugular and gave The defender twisted blood by the end of it it. Stop going on about youth being the only way forward (see Villa predicament). You need a mixture of both youth and experience.
