Young and Rooney had problems in training yesterday, Welbeck was sick.

Giggs played pretty well

Giggs had two completely different halves....that's why.

First he was very poor. Constantly giving the ball away.

In the second half, he seemed to play wider on the left and he gave their full back all kinds of trouble. And he put in some fabulous crosses.

Giggs wasn't a problem today. One of our better players in fact.

Well for current Giggs but not well.

Giggs wasn't poor at all. Not today. Or even in his 15 min cameo at Swansea.

The stretty were singing the ryan giggs song in the second half. Why? Because he was playing well.

I honestly don't think people watch the game and just comment regardless.

Scholes was a far greater concern today. He couldn't get involved when they had the ball. Game passed him by. And it hurts me to type that.

and you would be right.

I think for some, watching the goals on MOTD counts as 'having seen the game'.

Giggs showed today that he can still do a very good job on the wing. He doesn't have the same pace as he used to but his crossing and final balls are still good.

Never liked him as a CM. Never got that one.

Whatever Giggs does he gets slated. He did ok today. Scholes was the problem. Plat him with Carrick and we struggle. If Giggs is on the left he is sound enough.

He's a year older than Scholes but hasn't lost his legs to the same extent.

Scholes is still great with the ball at his feet. But a total passenger without it. And at risk of getting sent off more and more.

We improved hugely when Cleverely replaced him today. And so did Carrick because he was no longer doing 2 men's job.

Both need to retire though this season. It's time to forget the past and look to the future.

Giggs and Scholes shouldn't play at the same time, but Giggs did well as a sub against Swansea and was good this match too. It was his best display of the season to date...

Giggs had a decent game and Carrick was one of the best players on the pitch today so I can only assume you didn't watch the whole game.

Giggs was good second half. He still has some use on that left side in wide areas.

Scholsey when he hasn't got it, ball watches. And their running midfield players just sprint past him putting pressure on Carrick and exposing spaces in front of our centre backs.

Did he or did he not leave Evra completely exposed time and time again. He wasn't terrible, he wasn't amazing more to the point we need a more youthful team. Like I said Carrick was quality the last half an hour however before that he was shocking. So I can only assume you didn't watch the game.

Considering everyone except you thinks he didn't play well, then we can clearly deduce you (a) didn't watch the match or (b) do not appreciate the beautiful game.

Carrick was immense as well

So did Giggs provide good cover for Evra? Did Carrick play immense all game?

posted on 27/12/12

If the only thing you can fault him on was not tracking back when he's 39 that's hardly a bad game.

posted on 27/12/12

It's not that he had a bad game, the point that i'm making is that he just isn't good enough anymore. Even at his current best his lack of legs (coupled with Scholes) just makes it way too easy for opposition teams to ru through the midfield hence Fergie needs to do something about his midfield.

If Cleverley had played instead of Scholes we'd have been fine.

Giggs should only play on the left wing - ideally off the bench. However, with so many players missing, he was our best option to start on the wing yesterday.

Scholes should only be starting if we are playing with 3 CMs. If he is playing in a 2 man CM then you should only be playing the last 30 minutes of games.

posted on 27/12/12

That's why he doesn't start many, but yesterday Fergie had no choice. We had 5 players who can play on the left out, there's barely a club in the world that can have that many players out and field someone as good as Giggs.

I'm not saying Giggs should start games, I just said he played well yesterday and Carrick was immense yesterday.

Carrick wasn't immense all game. He was immense for the last 30 minutes. Before that his poor touch kept getting us into trouble, he was slow on the ball and up to his usual act of F all. However in the last 30 minutes I agree he was quality, he searched for the ball and was playing amazing passes. Helped whe Cleverly came on for Scholes. But Carrick was far from being immense all game.
