Should he become part of our growing Spanish inquisition next season?
He hasn't signed a new contract with Real Madrid (yet) and could be available in the Summer. He is 32 in November but the way he plays I could see him playing at the highest level for at least another 3 years. Wenger likes him so it shouldn't be beyond the realms of possibility considering we have a supposed £70M 'warchest' to use in the Summer.
Santi, Nacho, Mikel, #FreeDavidVilla, Isco, Xabi Alonso, Fabregas - Welcome to Arsenal

Yes he does and Walcott is joint 2nd with a few more players in the assists table, you're doing a poor job here Peter by trying to deflect your stupid comment by trying to slag on of your own players.
Walcott is also a good player and plays higher up the pitch making it easier to assist goals, but if you're happy to laugh at one of your own to try prove an incorrect point about a rival teams player, well that just speaks volumes of you as a supporter

He's far better then Arteta even now, Arteta is decent but he never has or will reach the level Gerrard is at even now. Gerrard's not the box to box, dynamic player he was a few seasons back but he's still a top drawer player and Englands best midfielder, he's the only English midfielder who has actually played well at major tournamanets in the last 2 you have reached

Gerrard was world class in 08/09. That was his only ever season where you could place him alongside the world elite. Right now he is average and shouldn't even be playing for England who have an awful midfield.

We will not agree here Peter, I'd put him straight in ahead of Arteta at DM as he's playing that deep role for us very well at them moment, albeit with Lucas beside him.
Also can't agree Jack is currently better thern him although Jack is a great player he doesn't score or assist nearly as much as Gerrard does, look at the numbers for this season, Gerrards played more games but he's still way ahead in the goals to games ratio playing as deep a role as Jack does.
And as for a big fish in a small pond, well I'll let that pass for the wum it is

Don't see it. Would be great though if we managed to sign him.

Apparently (according to RadioMarca this morning), Alonso's developed a chronic groin condition (pubalgia) which is why he's being rested more lately. Anyone signing him would need reliable backup because he'd only be able to play a certain amount of games.
