Form Idea?

Ok, I know a few of you are against the idea of form being implemented, and some of you are against change but all I ask is you consider what I have to say

Let's begin:

The Idea

The simple idea is once a month 6 players are pulled out of the randomiser, this could be anyone in any of your squads so , for example's sake I put everyone through the generator and these six came out:

Andre Wisdom
Pepe Reina
Paul Pogba
Diego Godin
Daniel Sturridge
Leo

The first three (Wisdom,Reina and Pogba) would have 4 matches, or a month however you'd like to think of it, of good form. This doesn't mean they become unplayable or that the team possessing them instantly gets the win or the most slots but it is something that can swing the balance in a tight game, which is ever more the case in the league and let's be honest it happens in real life...remember when Darren Bent was good? and when Jenas was an England International<doubleyikes>. Oh yeah and the other three players Leo, Sturridge and Godin would have a month of bad form, again that doesn't mean they will be giving away goals or going on a goal drought but if I saw a close game and Sturridge in poor form for team x against Reina in good for for team Y I would take it into account (or whoever else is doing the results)

The aim

The aim is to boost certain aspects of the league that I believe will benefit it as a whole, and give us something new.

Squads: It would promote people to invest in their squads, If for example Harrogate had Wanyama in poor form I may feel it may be of my best interest to play a different player in my squad who may not normally get a game (I know injuries offer this but this isn't a set in stone this player can't play for you it is purely your own discretion) It can also work the other way if LC had one of his youngsters pop up in the good form draw he may think it would be a good chance for him to get some game time and thus promotes a bit of freshness into starting XI's and stops teams and tactics going stale.

Transfers: This is an interesting thought and maybe it would happen maybe not. However if someone had 3 games to go til the end of the season, let's just say this time next year and the table is once again tight up the top (or at the bottom for that matter) and you think buying a in form player in a certain position can get you some extra oomph and clinch you the silverware then you will probably feel it's worth taking the gamble thus buying one of these in form players, albeit probably at an inflated rate.

Tactics: I touched on this before but on one side of the coin you have the chance to include certain players in your team due to form and replace others due to poor form meaning we will be using the squads we have built rather than having 100's of players and only playing 20 odd players throughout the season.
On the other side you have the use of tactics to combat the opponents players who may be affected by form, If I notice my opponents full back is on poor form I am more likely to target him as a weak point, however obviously they may not be playing that player and it becomes a bit of a game of chess...Something I think gives games a little more interest, also if I saw they had a attacking player in good form I may look to try and combat that whether it be cutting off his supply of marking him out of the game.

There are obviously conflicting views on this and I would like to talk about it through this thread, cleans up the homepage a little bit so please give me your thoughts I'd like to hear from everybody x

I am more than happy to continue with the league as it is I just feel like it could be a nice little addition, and I am happy to be the one doing the randomiser and putting the idea into effect if it is voted in

Maybe we can give it a trial during the off season however I don't know if we would get the full effect of it over that space of time...maybe even introduce it next season and decide whether to keep at the end...

Over to you

Thanks for those who read all of this and sorry for any spelling or grammar mistakes it's pretty late and I tried to get this done ASAP

Love from Tippy

Also forgot to add there was supposedly "Dream League form" meant to be taken into account when looking at teams and tactics... or at least as far as I was aware during season 1 but it seems that has gone out the window due to many people doing the results which obviously can't be helped

I know RAP already said it, but

When I can look past this enough to take the article seriously I'll read it

I'm really sorry Tippy, but I'm not in favour

I can't help but think it adds one too many levels of 'subjectivity' to the results; particularly if we introduce Red/Yellow Cards as well. Also, whilst Red/Yellow Cards, Injuries etc are definitive occurances, the notion of 'form' is difficult to put our finger on and would prove difficult to be held to account for and to manage accross a wide array of people doing results.

Additionally, whilst you list some benefits, I can't help but think that Form by detract from the essence of the league - putting your best team together, then seeing (with the help of the fruity) whether you can win. With Form, it could be argued that you would be moving away from this, as managers may feel the need to do swaps/transfers that do not necessarilly befit the policy.

Changing the injury system (perhaps proportionally as RAP suggested) and the introduction of Cards we could manage as an idea to develop the league further, but form wouldn't get a yes from me I'm afraid. Certainly not under it's current guise, and probably not at all as it instinctively doesn't sit well with me.

Tipz

Im against it

Football is a subjective sport and i feel everyone on this league is trying to get everything for this league onto a conveyor belt-esque process. How players should be rated, how results should be determined, how your squads should be assembled and it doesnt sit well with me.

I for one like the fact that many different people do results on this league. Its means that each game will be viewed differently and in-turn means everyone is in with a shout come matchday. Its adds to the unpredictabilty & excitement in this league. Something we used to thrive on

I understand where you are coming from and your idea going forward. I also noticed that form wasnt taken into account this season. I for one also looked at how different players played in prior games before i did results last season. But there also 4 more teams to keep track of this season so it can become abit too much for the person doing the results.

I just feel this is a step too far for next season...maybe season 4

So this goes out to everyone doing results, instead of having a system for determining the form of players. A quick browse maybe through the stats page to see who are the players that have been making an impact within their respective teams. Also i cant talk for everyone but i read the match reports of every game to help get an idea of how certain teams play and how certain managers use certain players so come matchday i have a basic idea of whos who and whos been doing well in certain teams.

So just mental notes to take into consideration when doing results.

Anyways thats my worth. At the end of the day majority rules in this league so votes count

Certainly consistency in who is and isnt rated is a problem but I feel really that teams and tactics epecially are getting stale having seen them throughout the season and I am thinking of a way for people to use their heads a bit
