This very week last year, I was nervously awaiting my AS results and it felt as though nothing else mattered. A lot of other people my age were in the same predicament, many of whom were United fans.
The results were to be released on Thursday, and United, being the superb club that they are, decided that they would sign Robin Van Persie the night before, to take our minds off the unimportant issue of our futures and focus it on what really mattered; football.
This year, we are yet to sign anyone, and I am certain that that is because they are doing a very honourable thing in waiting to give some of their fans something to celebrate in their hour of need.
Results day is this Thursday, so don't be surprised if we sign at least 3 players on Wednesday evening. I personally think it will be Fellaini, Modric and Baines, but there's a good chance we could see Fabregas, Ronaldo and Banega as well.
If we don't, despair not, because next Thursday is GCSE results day and the club may just be feeling more sympathetic to it's younger fans this year.

To be fair, I'm glad Villa didn't go down. Brave decision to promote youth in such a way and even though they had to battle for their own survival, only way for them now is up. They'll have people knocking on their door for players soon enough over the years.
If Benteke produces a similar season to last, I'm sure even we'd look into his availability.

I don't see Villa struggling this season. They are more likely to reap he rewards of a successful gamble last season.

That would explain why he signed a new contract. Villa probably said to him to prove he wasn't a one season wonder, give them one more year and agreed to a reasonable buyout clause. If Benteke repeats his form of last season then that clause will be triggered and then some I'd imagine.

Surely if there were any signing around the corner we'd know about it, a bid accepted or medical to be taken would be all over the news.

Fellaini will be signing this week. That's the deal that is "close".
