Okay, the title sounds pretty ridiculous. Of course we do but all the latest rumours about Lamela only coming in if Bale leaves are getting me wondering. As great as bale is, is it worth keeping a sulky player for one more year max if you pass up the opportunity to sign a top, top class player at 21 who would be here for 3-4 years at least. I'm starting to think we're better off selling him and getting these players in now while we can.

"Nope. Anything could be happening. TV money for the next 3 years being used, investment from ENIC/Joe Lewis, using money not spent for the past 2-3 years....
Number of reasons. Bale could even end up staying.
No one knows."
I don't remember suggesting I know.
It still stands as a reasonable conclusion.

Fridge, if you'd followed my comments you'd see I have never been that bothered by him going, as long as long as the team got strengthened elsewhere with the money - a new winger, a new attacking mid and a striker.
That was even at the 60m mark.
By the look of things though, the 86m Bale money will have bought:
New striker: Soldado 26m
New forward 1: Willian 30m
New forward 2: Lamela 30m
New left back: Coentrao 0m (part of deal)
That is good business by anyone's books, and those signings alone make us stronger than with Bale.
Parker - 3.5m
Hudd - 5.5m
Dempsey - 6m
Caulker - 8.5m
Benny - 5m or thereabouts
Total of roughly 28.5m
Paulnho - 17m
Chadli - 9m
Capoue - 10m
Total of roughly 36m
Net spend of just 7.5m, which is pretty amazing. If we could get another RB/CB in place of Naughton and take our net spend up to 10m it would be a pretty amazing squad.
The extra TV money would probably be eaten up by wage increases. More money for the new stadium with the little transfer spend though, and probable pole position for the top four and the extra CL money too.

"But not the only / most likely one.
Can you sit still til Sept 2 to find out either way ??"
That's a matter of opinion.
I could but people are speculating what could happen in the future in almost every field, I'm unsure why this would be any different.

I have to admit I think Bale will go but I also think with the players we have signed we will be a better team than we were last year with Bale.
Of course he is a loss he is a great player but without him I think we can get top 4, if he stays I honestly think we could win it and I have never predicted that before in my life (ok)

The general consensus among the Spurs faithful this week seems to be that the departure of Bale will not wound us like Carrick and Berbatoss did. And it could actually make us stronger overall.
