The more I read about van Gaal the more I think he's the man.
Yesterday and today I learned that.
1) He dropped an Ajax great in favour of giving VDS his chance in goal.
2) Rivaldo tried to dictate where he played and got dropped.
3 He played 4-2-3-1 at Bayern, 4-4-2 at AZ and 2-3-2-3 at Barca he says that he plays a system that SUITS the players at his disposal.
4) He converted Schweinsteiger from a RW to CM.
5) Favours youth over experience.
Van Gaal

A bigger disadvantage is not waiting on the right man and jumping the gun for someone inadequate. Next season is a write off for me anyway, too many players coming and going to be a real success.

If we hopefully buy the right players and get a good start we'll be hopefully fine.

Wouldn't the Dutch FA have to give us permission to speak with Van Gaal, about a contract?
----------------------------------
I don't see why not. They have already announced who is taking over from him (and who is taking over from his successor). It's not as if there is an ambiguity over the fact that LVG will be a free agent in August.

I agree that Van Gaal would be the ideal man to take over from SAF.
But it wouldnt surprise me if Utd go for someone younger,

Van Gaal will lay the foundations and get us into top 4, he'd be here for the next few years probably until he retires.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
If Van Gaal takes over, the race for the title as well as Top 4 next season should be very interesting, cos we'll have Liverpool, City, Chelsea, Arsenal,Everton, Utd & maybe Spurs fighting for 4 places.
As usual Arsenal will be the favorite to drop out

Problem is that if we get him and Holland do well at World Cup he cannot take over until well into the summer. We'd have another F### up on our hands with transfer window.

LVG is certainly not inadequate. In fact he probably is the right man. He over saw the evolution and rebuilding of Barca and Bayern. While not overly successful on the pitch with those teams he lay the foundations for the success we see today. If anything he was the right man for the job last summer and had he not been in the middle of WC qualifications he might have been a contender. Yes he probably won't be here more than 3 years but he will set us on track, develop the youth academy and and give the club a playing philosophy that a new, younger, long term manager can take forward successfully once he moves on.

Fara,
Talking about not waiting on LVG. becoming available. He is ideal.

Lots of plus points, but his age concerns me a little.
Might be a great choice to steady the ship and bring about a new style over the next 3-5 years though.

Ancellotti for me. Van Gaal sounds great but we need someone who can start yesterday not in 4 months time after a tiring and hot World Cup on the other side of the planet. We can't risk him turning away any of potential signings because he wants to spend a few months getting to know the players that we have.
Ancellotti knows the Premier League has won trophies here and could be available in a couple of months or sooner if tonight goes badly. Besides Van Gaal has been an international manager for years now we can't afford to waste time having him looking around for a place to live etc. And getting used to being a club manager again.

We wont make it out of the group stage. We;ll get a draw against Oz and lose the other 2. 1 Point and return tickets will be all we win in Brasil.
