You get three guesses as to which loud mouthed Dutch fitness coach pops up again!

Number 3 is very important

5) Favours youth over experience.

He actually prefers both.It all depends if either is performing to the standards he sets, which is common sense to be honest.

Someone must have reversed the polarities. I keep finding myself agreeing with you this week, SLM.

I've said the following across various other threads, but in brief:

- He has an impressive list of teams he has made better, not by demanding the chairman signs players, but by working with existing players and changing the methods and tactics.
- He is credited for laying foundations for success reaped by his successors at Barcelona and Bayern.
- He won't take no shít from pampered stars.
- It would be a totally new experience for us to be led by an ideologue rather than a pragmatist. Fergie had loose principles such as being attacking (within reason) and determined but doesn't belong to the school of managers whose thinking is based fairly fixed ideas of the right way to play. In that respect, Fergie was more Mourinho than Bielsa. LVG belongs more to the other school, though with room for adaptation. We could expect attacking, retaining possession, and emphasis on utilising space under LVG. In other words, no longer being dominated in midfield by mid-table sides.

The only problem I have with us appointing Van Gaal, is we will have to wait until after the WC before he's announced.

Until then, we'll be linked with every manager, in the world (apart from the tranny humper, of course).

I'd guess we could confirm the signing before then. But his unavailability until the WC ends is a disadvantage.

I agree that Van Gaal would be the ideal man to take over from SAF.

But it wouldnt surprise me if Utd go for someone younger,

Van Gaal will tell Woodward who he wants and will prob speak with the players informally.

A bigger disadvantage is not waiting on the right man and jumping the gun for someone inadequate. Next season is a write off for me anyway, too many players coming and going to be a real success.

Van Gaal will lay the foundations and get us into top 4, he'd be here for the next few years probably until he retires.

Wouldn't the Dutch FA have to give us permission to speak with Van Gaal, about a contract?

Van Gaal for me too. We need a proper structure and philosophy is place to go forward as a club. Van Gaal is very experienced at it and have demonstrated consistently where ever he has worked. #LvGin.

If we hopefully buy the right players and get a good start we'll be hopefully fine.

I don't see why not. They have already announced who is taking over from him (and who is taking over from his successor). It's not as if there is an ambiguity over the fact that LVG will be a free agent in August.

If Van Gaal takes over, the race for the title as well as Top 4 next season should be very interesting, cos we'll have Liverpool, City, Chelsea, Arsenal,Everton, Utd & maybe Spurs fighting for 4 places.

As usual Arsenal will be the favorite to drop out

Problem is that if we get him and Holland do well at World Cup he cannot take over until well into the summer. We'd have another F### up on our hands with transfer window.

LVG is certainly not inadequate. In fact he probably is the right man. He over saw the evolution and rebuilding of Barca and Bayern. While not overly successful on the pitch with those teams he lay the foundations for the success we see today. If anything he was the right man for the job last summer and had he not been in the middle of WC qualifications he might have been a contender. Yes he probably won't be here more than 3 years but he will set us on track, develop the youth academy and and give the club a playing philosophy that a new, younger, long term manager can take forward successfully once he moves on.

Fara,

Talking about not waiting on LVG. becoming available. He is ideal.

Lots of plus points, but his age concerns me a little.

Might be a great choice to steady the ship and bring about a new style over the next 3-5 years though.

Ancellotti for me. Van Gaal sounds great but we need someone who can start yesterday not in 4 months time after a tiring and hot World Cup on the other side of the planet. We can't risk him turning away any of potential signings because he wants to spend a few months getting to know the players that we have.

Ancellotti knows the Premier League has won trophies here and could be available in a couple of months or sooner if tonight goes badly. Besides Van Gaal has been an international manager for years now we can't afford to waste time having him looking around for a place to live etc. And getting used to being a club manager again.
