This point may have been covered already, and it is a minor point, but amid all the romantic talk of Gerrard receiving the PL medal that his services "deserve", I would like to take this opportunity to exert my pedantry and explain that he would not have gained a medal anyway, even if Liverpool had have won the league.
When a player wins the PL for the first time, they are presented with a miniature replica of the PL trophy, instead of a medal.

Thanks, but with the league, the best team is the one that wins it, I'd say.
We were coming from behind, and there was just no margin for error. In order to win it, we had to take 40 points out of 42 from our last 14 games. We took 37, which was a pretty valiant effort, but like I said....no margin for error.
City lost at home to Chelsea, too...that was always a potential stumbling block. Onwards and upwards, it was a very good season, so we'll see where we go from here...progress isn't always linear.
