Yes, I think the club get 30 medals at their disposal that they can allocate as they see fit, so I'm sure in reality SG would have been given one!
As for the comments re the "replica" European Cup; there are loads of teams that have retained the original version. The one Liverpool have in the cabinet is about the 6th one - not the original.

I'm still unsure how Liverpool players managed to get their hands on the original trophy that Real Madrid kept after winning it five times (and 3 in a row), or the ones that Ajax and Bayern Munich were presented with in the 1970s.
Or is this another Liverpool "fact" that has been banded around, like the one a Liverpool fan told me recently, exaplaining that Liverpool were the first team to retain the European Cup.
I advised him to take any "facts" from that neck of the woods with a pinch of salt. You can't believe everything you hear!

I knew what you meant, but what is being missed here is that, by 2005, that trophy was not the original "big ears" either!!!

Maybe you should have explained it to me in the first place, cos I get it now!!
I don't think United ever will get their hands on one now. I believe they have stopped the policy of presenting it to multiple winners.
It's just as well really - I don;t think our trophy cabinet could take the weight of a proper one (ho ho ho)

So, it’s possible he was told a true fact (that Liverpool were the first British club to retain it), and misunderstood it. Or it’s possible that that’s what he meant, but not what he actually said.
It’s even possible that it’s what he actually said, and it was you who mis-heard it.
But you labelled it “another Liverpool fact” (whatever that means), and told him never to believe anything that bloke told him ever again?????

The whole point of this sh'article is that you presented as fact that Gerrard would not have received a medal. It didn't take many comments for you to changed your mind so maybe you are not the best person to lecture anybody on 'facts'.
