De Gea

Just watched this on YouTube of him:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TymbY4a7zBk

He absolutely oozes class, and it's hard to think he is only 23. The save away at Sunderland and the one away at Chelsea from the Mata free kick were some of the best saves I've ever seen

Looking at this it's hard to think he isn't Spain's number 1 yet.

Hope we can keep hold of him when Barca and Real inevitably come calling

To come over the hard few months he had at the start and settle in now as he has is fantastic. One of the best in the PL for me.

I don't think it'd effect him too much. Bar the dodgy mistake in the final he looked pretty good in all the cup and cl games he played - which is a testament to his mentality to be able to come into the team and perform.

I think the key difference, however, is that he's played so many times with Spain's defence and their style of play whereas De Gea hasn't.

Spain's high line could be an issue for De Gea were he to start the world cup because a) he won't be used to it due to the deep line we play and b) I think him coming off his line is one of the weaknesses in his game.

I agree about with the last paragraph. It'll be interesting to see De Gea's development in that last department I spoke of because I would imagine that LVG will look to play a higher line than we've been playing the last couple of years - not Barca or Spain high, but higher than the bloody edge of the box we sit on now - and this is where De Gea can learn more playing this way, because Spain under 21's is probably the most recent exposure he's had to that way of keeping.

That should hopefully stand him in good stead for the Spain position in a few years if he continues to improve.

Diego Lopez should've gone instead of De Gea. Saying that De Gea would probably no 1 for about 28 of the 32 nations in the finals atleast.

solid improving keeper, getting a bit too much praise from utd fans but still much improved compared to when he first joined.
Think i'd prefer him to Hart though who hopefully won't let england down.

DeGea went backwards last season. Like Hart his distribution is not great. United fans always over rate their players - e.g remember the new Baresi. DeGea is a decent keeper tho.

His distribution is brilliant.

At least if you're going to criticise him criticise a weakness in his game such as coming or crosses or coming off his line not his kicking, because he's one of the best in that department.

De Gea's distribution is one of his best assets! Jesus

agree. his distribution is pretty good! especially for a weaker looking guy he has a good throw and kick.
he does have that numb dumb look though that players like kalou and ivanovic have. never know if they know where they are.

The whole team had that same look working with Moyes.
