New stadium CPO - Archway Steel

Taken from another site it seems that MP David Lammy has tabled a written parliamentary question to the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government asking when he expects to reach a decision on the Paxton Road (Archway Steel) Compulsory Purchase Order.

The summary of the reply from Nick Boles (Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Planning) is that the the average length of time the DCLG takes to make a decision on opposed CPOs is 10 to 11 weeks. They have been considering the Haringey / Spurs CPO for more than 21 months. They hope to issue their decision shortly!

So Spurs have been waiting 21 months for a decision that would usually take no more than 3 months! I bet Levy is rather slashed off with this utter incompetence to say the least.

Boles also said, This is a complex case. After the close of the inquiry there were matters in respect of which further views of the interested parties were sought and considered. This has delayed the decision in this case.

We hope to issue the decision on this shortly. It is not appropriate to comment further as to do so may prejudice the Secretary of State’s decision.

Will we ever get our new stadium?

Archway`s appear to be very stubborn and risking rising legal costs, the quickest way would be for Levy to just pay them off imo, though he is probably banking on the CPO going his way.

The whole CPO process has long been a farce imo, there no way Spurs should be waiting 7 times longer than normal for a decision.

You wouldn't have to wait, just pay the man his money,Levy trying to screw the last tanner out of the situation.he could have settled this a long time ago.

Last minute Levy.

That firm is not doing a residential land squat.
Where would they physically relocate to ??

The closest place off-hand is on the Garman road estate.
But if there are no premises of similar physical size + required layout, they would be forced out of that parish.

I believe Archway`s have been offered new bigger premises a few hundred yards down the road

Whereabouts ??
North of WHL is only the old Sainsburys site (and a tower block is currently going up beside that) .

I read somewhere they had been offered very good terms and new premises not too far away, do not know exactly where.

Archway`s seem determined (or greedy), either way it is all taking far too long

Without having the details on what the CPO offer alternatives are (site, compensation etc) , you cannot shout the odds on that business.

As for the political machinations : appallingly slow.

Lammy is partly to blame, I bet if it were an illegal immigrant he would have been straight on the case.

At this rate we will not be moving into a new stadium for the start of 2016/17 season as planned, I think construction was due to begin in the second half of this year, but that us looking less and less likely unless fingers are removed asap
