Because mata cant defend at all, is a number 10 not a cm. Because herrera is a cm, not a number 10. Because there best positions are the opposite to what you have suggested.

Small in build doesn't mean they can't do a great job.

Herrera can play number 10 as has been noted by a few pundits.

We need somebody with vision playing deeper. something we won't have come the close of the window.

As I stated in the original article I think it would only work if we had a world class midfielder like Vidal as well.

Would I fancy Mata and Vidal against Matic and Fabregas? Yes!

if mata has an ounce of defensive ability it would make some sense, but meh this is not a discussion. We can barely hide mata up front, let alone in midfield.

What we need in midfield areplayers who can turn in midfield and not just pass back or sideways
