I'd say the point of getting a world class CM is to allow Mata to play without the need to drop back as much. Whether Vidal is the ideal man for that... I'm not sure... Someone like Carvalho might suit the system bettet
I think Phil Jones should play CM alongside Herrera.
Get rid of fecking Fletcher and buy a proper right back if Rafael isn't up to it.
A DM is what we need, but I wouldn't mind a box-to-box midfielder like Vidal at all. A DM would allow Herrera and Mata to dictate the play from further forward.

Because mata cant defend at all, is a number 10 not a cm. Because herrera is a cm, not a number 10. Because there best positions are the opposite to what you have suggested.

As I stated in the original article I think it would only work if we had a world class midfielder like Vidal as well.
Would I fancy Mata and Vidal against Matic and Fabregas? Yes!

if mata has an ounce of defensive ability it would make some sense, but meh this is not a discussion. We can barely hide mata up front, let alone in midfield.
What we need in midfield areplayers who can turn in midfield and not just pass back or sideways
