I'm sure lindegaard was close to leaving in the summer according to his agent. Makes sense having valdes around if lindegaard off in jan.

"Like a laurent blanc loan we did before"

Hardly a success on the field though was he? He brought a lot of experience and helped players such as Rio but not necessarily on the field where his lack of pace was found out time and time again. De Gea lacks that commanding presence but I don't think dropping him short term for a keeper still regaining his fitness from a serious injury is a good idea at all.

And like Darren said, he's only training with us, not signed so can't play. He can still bring experience and advice to De Gea every day in training like Blanc did, similarly Larsson who wasn't particularly great in games for us but brought with him a winning mentality that supposedly rubbed off onto the players.

Football is about so much more than just the 90 minutes on the pitch, so much can be learnt and gained off it too and that's where Valdes can provide some valuable experience.

Victor Valdes is hardly going to organise our defence. He didn't at Barca and they spoke the same language as him.

Puyol and Pep were the organisers in that defence. Valdes was brilliant at mopping up after them. But it's no coincidence that their defence got worse when Puyol got crocked and Pep left.

He wouldn't make any difference to the organisation of the defence. That's down to the coaches working on the training pitch as well as the players playing more matches together.

Dropping De Gea for Valdes would be a stupid idea.

A cb that could do that would help, yes, but it'd also help if he was a good defender on the pitch. So not like Blanc was for us.

Just made me think. Watch terry throughout our games. He's always looking across his line of defenders. Always signalling to them. Always talking to them. In constant dialogue with them. You need someone like that

To be honest, I've been of the opinion that Vidic has limited our ability to push higher up play a pressing game so I wasn't overly concerned with his departure.

However, things haven't improved in that respect and we've lost his organisation and leadership which would have made up for his lack of pace in this current side.

Though I hear he's struggling at Inter even though they sit deep, so he might just be past it anyway.

I just saw this, remember him nowhere near that Scholes strike. I loved this bit: "The club confirmed Valdes's recovery will now be supervised by United's medical staff. " Hargreaves guinea pig comments.
