Faith in the kids (and Harry)

They had a nice run-out against Hearts, but that team obviously could not do the damage.

Which of them do you think could more dangerous given some more match time with the first 11 ??

And is Redknapp tactically astute enough to be able to blend them into a team strong enough to beat any Europa / Cup opponents, while resting as many of the first choice 11 as often as possible ??

I thought Fredericks showed promise, as did Kane even if he did miss a couple of chances including the penalty.

Townsend looks to be growing in confidence & he was highly thought of at MK Dons last year.

Livermore is a talent, whilst young Carroll looked as though he was not old enough to be out at that time of night.

One player who did catch the eye was the young Corluka, showed promise & composure on the ball, although think he needs to work on his pace if he is going to progrees into the 1st Team.

All in all a good showing & think we ought to blood one or two of these in the team at suitable times. It works for United, why not us?

Given the Europa draw, have we been given the opportunity to proceed into the next phase with a lot of the kids playing those 6 games ??

BTW, the RDBD thinks Modric will just luuuurv playing those away legs.

Did anyone catch the Carroll interview after the game? Bless him

I would like to see Kane given more chances, i hope people wont judge him on a penalty miss, he is been scoring a heap of goals over the last year

I think these 6 games will be great for the kids (and Modric) .

BTW, does anyone know when we enter the league cup draw (we weren't playing when Liverpool were etc) ??

My run down on the kids;

Fredricks: Look out of his depth for me personally. Bit of pace and some nice touches but so light and weak whenever any contact took place he look like snapping. On that showing will struggle to make for me.

Kane: To be honest i was a touch dissappointed. Heard alot of good things about him and obviously seen the goals he has scored. Good build for a striker so young, reasonable pace and a decent touch. However on the night i just don't feel he had a decent game. Did well to earn the pen but generally he was very quiet and personally i think his movement was pretty poor. Like i said seems to have the attributes and will without doubt make a good living out the game but unconviced it will be at the top level just yet.

Carroll: By far the stand out player in the WHOLE team. Worked hard, always wanted the ball, noce touch and good really tell he is a really good footballer. His pass for the pen was superb. Was playing out of position as well. Very slight but has grown height wise in the past year or so, so no reason he can't build the muscle up.

I haven't included Livermore or Townsend as everyone should have seen enough of them already. Will say it was a strange decision to start Townsend at left back get him on the wing!!

I think Townsend has more quality on the ball than Lennon, he also appears to be a quicker thinker (not difficult IMO) than Lennon. Lennon is a bit one dimensional to me, whereas I think Townsend has more variety & skill to his play. Just imagine Bale, Townsend & Ekotto on the left flank.....................could be frightening!! Don't forget we also have Rose too..........

Agree re Kane, its only his first real outing this year & I think with nurturing he could really come through & might save us a few million too.

Carroll has great skill, might need a little feeding up, but then Modric is no giant & neither was Ossie, John White in their day.

To be fair in the first 20 minutes Townsend ripped them to shreds and went past them at will, however after that he did struggle to get to the line. In his defence he had no support (obviously being the full back and no real left winger playing). I do like him alot and he should be playing all our cup games this season but on the wing please Harry.
