Sergio Ramos

At first when I heard of our interest I thought there wasn't a chance in hell of signing him and he was using us for an improved contract but now there are reports coming from Spain that he has asked to leave. Now I don't believe most of what I read relating to transfers but just maybe this could be on.

United fans seem to be divided in their opinion of him but I think he would be a fantastic signing for us. Yes his discipline is a problem but Vidic also picked up quite a few cards in his time here. You don't play for Real Madrid for 10 odd years and have 130 caps for one of the best national teams ever without being top top class. If we signed him and a top keeper we are already a stronger team than last year in my opinion.

Also L'equipe (don't know how reliable they are) are saying we are close to signing Lloris for 18 million. Bargain if true but can't see it happening at that price with Levy around. Although maybe there was some truth in his reported release clause.

Most on here have been moaning about our defence all year and when we declare interest in a world class, champions league, world cup and european championship winner, he isn't good enough? I would be delighted if we sign Ramos... yes he may be a bit of a but who else better is there out there we could sign (If the rumours are true).

There aren't many Madrid players I do like with Ramos being right up there behind Pepe as the two I dislike the most however putting emotion aside, I think when we wants to be, he's a terrific defender and would bring some much needed $hithousery to proceedings, something I think we lack in spades.

If this is actually possible and he's not just angling for a better contract which he doesn't seem to be, then we must put every effort into luring him away from Madrid.

I'd still go for Otamendi though even if we did manage to get Ramos.

Still a much better CB than anything we currently have, would certainly improve the side. Not a bad RB too, when he's played there.

Would be one of the best cbs in the prem if he joined, no doubt about it.
People slating him really haven't got a clue. Yes the guy can be rash at times but name me one CB in world football who doesn't have a weakness. You don't get to play for a world class team, play for one if the greatest ever international teams over 100 times and ein countless trophies If you are not that good. I think one manager over that time would have worked that one out by now
