We're better than that. The nonsense spouted about Torres on these boards now and over the past 8 months is borderline embarrassing; and looking through some of the posts from the past 12 hours, we're already starting to do it to Raul.
Two weeks ago we were raving about him, especially after coming on against Arsenal. A fans favourite. Now he's an uncreative, injury prone bottler in the tackle, who would struggle to get a place before Adam and Henderson. Ridiculous.
We've had an amazingly good window, lets take this one on the chin, without being bitter. We've cleared out 99% of the deadwood, and got players in for EVERY position we've been banging on about for 12 months. To moan about Raul leaving is like a spoiled child not getting EVERY present he wanted for his birthday.
The 'transfer request' and the timing of it is almost certainly forced onto the player by the club to put the club in a better light - personally I believe this deal was always being worked on in the background, and was always going to happen, from days ago. Raul wanted out - for whatever reason, and that's the end of it.
Lets back the team Kenny's assembled, and stop the bitterness towards Raul. Like I said above, we're better than that.
Good luck Raul (though this doesn't extend to your team, obviously… ).

Lets not do to Meireles what we did to Torr

yes BBRM - a female utd fan. We had a couple of pub threads on the old 606, one for us and one was an LFC/utd one. There were a couple of really nice utd fans on there but tcir was very opinionated and what turned me off completely was a post she made explaining to someone in great detail how to hang themselves!! It was shocking.

jb - i missed that hanging thread. Probably a hangover from the 70's when United fans were constantly thinking of hanging themselves...

Oh, right - I assumed she was a Liverpool fan, to be so opinionated (not that we're opinionated, it's just the tone of her post...).
Oh well, every team has them I suppose - even ours (but obviously to a lesser degree)!...

St. I think she got a temp suspension over it. It was all over the feedback thread at the time. She was obsessed with people having multiple accounts- ironic given that she now writes under 3names on Spite Witness

St - just reading that thread now. Does it make a difference that Chelsea actually asked Meireles to put in the transfer request?

I don't suppose it does - we MUST have given permission for Raul to discuss terms. I can't see why they couldn't have said to him to ask for the transfer request. I imagine FSG would have wanted the additional cash to pay off the compensation Raul would have otherwise been due.
Chelsea may have wanted to have less money flowing out of their pockets on the deal. Perhaps Raul will receive it as an additional sum in his wages to match the overall amount he'd be losing?

Just read that article through - that you posted the link to. Why does she think to outsiders it looks like he was pushed out??? There's nothing that's happened over the past few days to suggest that at all. Back-handed dig at the club methinks!

I have little doubt it was a dig at the club, and not a very back-handed one at that.
I'll poke-the-snake when it sticks its nose out in a way I find unfair. I have no fear - I have Derek
