Why? Yes his form has been poor BUT before you read this title and skip to the comment (or you can do if you want) read me out:
This season is very quickly becoming a write off now, barring a minor miracle top 4 is gone, we've got what the Europa and FA Cup to play for? (if we had everything to play for still I'd be happy for him to remain on the bench).
I say let's get Memphis' confidence back up running into next season, I still think he can be a star.
Let's let him know we still have faith in him, that we can make him become a better player. Start him, give him a proper chance to get into a run of form and score some goals for us.
If we give him that opportunity and it doesn't work out then he can have no complaints and it's not really going to change much for us as a whole this season is it?
Play him from now on I say
Start Memphis from now on consistently

Nani was twice the player and thats saying something
Money has gone to his head. Really poor player with so much hype. Bullet dodged

It is not only about confidence. His attitude is very questionable and I don't think he even bothers to prove people wrong. From what I have seen, he is technically limited, doesn't do the basics right, gives the ball away too much, has poor cross and most of all it doesn't seem like he uses his brain when making decisions. I think we should call this one and move on.

I think confidence is a massive factor for players.
Sorry to bang the Rooney drum but I cant see why he plays no matter how poor but likes of Memphis are relegated to the bench or worse
Or is it that lvg has too many player s in need of games to get into form and simply can't play them all to give them time?
Tbf I suppose giving Rooney time makes more sense as at he he prem experience

yeah i agree with playing Memphis from now on and let him learn a bit

While I agree that game time is what any player needs to gain confidence, I'm not really sure any of our offensive players have played well regularly under LVG so I can't see much improvement while LVG is still here unfortunately.
Of course confidence is important, I think he comes across as someone who is full of confidence to the point of arrogance. That is what makes him the player he is and what made him so successful for PSV. Once that confidence drops then the self belief is no longer there and he is unable to thrive off it.
If Jose is to come then hopefully he can see it as a new chance and I also think he might benefit from a manager who likes a counter style game although he'll have to work on his defensive game too. Either way the kid has to put a lot more effort if he wants to succeed for us.

Bit unfair on Lingard -- I'm assuming he'd be the player to make way?

I think he will come. Needs games to develop but can't justify his place at the moment. Wouldn't be against him starting in the league now we only have EL and the FA cup realistically to play for now
