Recovering from injury

Hi all

Having noticed recently on here the recent articles on health foods and gym routines, I was wondering if anyone had any helpful advice on recovering from injury.

I was playing power league on Wednesday night, when unfortunately I stretched with my left foot, my right foot buckled and all my weight went down on it. I heard the break immediately and have had to undergo surgery, only being released from hospital tonight.

I have suffered a dislocation of the tibia and a fracture of he fibula, and been placed on crutches for six weeks.

As I'm sure there are sporty types on 606, I was wondering if anyone knew of any safe methods to enhance recovery. I really don't want to take too much time off work and was hoping to get into a running routine over the summer.

Cheers

Palmers,

Spoke to my mate about when he did his. He was 22 at the time which apparently is a positive as bones are supposed to heal quicker when you're younger.

He said he was on crutches for about 6-8 weeks, was able to jog on the treadmill without pain after roughly 4 months. He was advised he could probably play football again after about 5 months, however he was naturally quote hesitant to do so and waited until about 7 months.

As for the recovery side of things, he and his family ensured he didn't try and rush anything.

Ledleys

Yeah I was expecting something like that. I assume the injury was similar. With me it was a dislocated tibia and fractured fibula.

I am 31, so still relatively young I guess. I exercise regularly so I think I'm in good shape.
I will be on crutches for 6 weeks, after that I will just go for walks to get back into moving without the aid of crutches, then swimming after that once I'm bac on my feet.

Plan would be to try to start light jogging by the end of June but will see how it goes. As far as football goes, not thinking about playing again at the minute.

I'm sure three months will go by quickly.

Thanks again for your help mate

Hi Chronic

I was playing at the newly opened centre at Edmonton County School, just off the A10.

I used to play at Friern Barnet one though a few years ago, and have played at the Southbury Road one too.

I've been playing at Friern Barnet power league on and off since it opened. I met Jermain Defoe over there about 10/11 years ago. He made me look big

He's taller than me

Nor am I. When I was a kid I used to measure myself against my bedroom door and I'd draw marks as how tall I wanted to be at certain ages. Final one was to be 5'11 as an adult but only made it to 5'9
