Cantona or van Nistelrooy

Who would you rather have at their peak?

5 for Eric Cantona

1 for Ruud van Nistelrooy

Decide.

It took a while but football finally realized you dont need strikers who just hover in the ox waiting for someone to create chances for them. Before him we had, Yorke, Sheringham, Cole, Strikers with a lot more versatility to their game. They did not need to score 30 goals because someone else would do the scoring. RVN changed that and for his time here, we looked genuinely average. Scholes, Giggs even Rooney looked sub par while he got his goals. We lost one of our greatest scorers and all of a sudden, our style returned. Strikers worked the channels, moved defenders, left space for midfield runners and led to the emergence of Ronaldo, something I doubt would have happened if RVN stayed. Legit have Every strike from the 99 team and Saha above him in ranking, Berba is close tie. 151 goals, all but 1 from in the box. Meh, not blown away...

If it were me I'd take RVN. You have a similar big character Cantona type in Zlatan but you're still lacking a pure goal machine especially now that Rooney has retired.

Eric brought more than just goals. With his ego, personality and passion he was a major catalyst from us being also rans to winners.

Cannot knock RvN's goal ratio but in pales into comparison to Cantona's all round package.

The only way I can answer this is to look at what would benefit the current team most right now and i believe that would be a prime Nistelrooy.

Don't really buy into the myth that RvN was detrimental overall to the team.

I'd have thought sensible people would have looked at a slighter older Roy Keane, not getting the best from Veron, the departure of Beckham, a period of transition that included such stellar names as Djemba Djemba, Bellion and Liam Miller, a long running quest for a top replacement for Schmeichel and a top top partner for Ferdinand at the back as being more likely factors in a drier spell whilst Ruud was striker. Not to mention a strong Arsenal and an emerging Chelsea team.

Berba a close tie with RVN. redas is as much of a clown as IAmMoron.

That said, I'd take Cantona in this current team because he's a better allround player and we need inspiration in that number 10 position.

Suppose if you stuck Miki in the centre you could put RVN up top and he's bang them in.

Eric.

An absolute joy to watch and arguably the most important player to ever play for the club.

I find it hard to believe anyone might need more than a split second to answer this one.

Cantona, imo, is United's single-most influential footballer in my lifetime.

RvN was a proper, English league style, striker/centre forward.

Cantona was a pretty good creative/attacking midfielder.

MUFC haven't had the former since the former left.

MUFC have had a plethora of the latter at, virtually, all times. Rooney, Mata and (hopefully) Pogba are all more contributive than Cantona.

The club's second biggest mistake was never replacing RvN

It's not often you're right, but this time you're wrong.
He was much, much better than pretty good. But to know that you have to have gone to watch , and then hope your two brain cells connect.
What's happening on your views on DDG by the way, still poor?
