winners-in order:
1) Raiola-£20mil for a few weeks work-not bad
2) Napoli-£76mil (apparently) for a fat overweight 29 year old. Enabled them to refresh their squad and still tuck £40mil in the bank
3) Pogba-massive boost in salary
4) Sky
5) Man Utd? time will tell
Losers-in Order
1) Juventus-got 89-76-20=negative 7. they have had their trousers lowered
2) Real.........the Emperor has no clothes. have been shown to be uncompetitive at the highest financial level-loosing out to a Europa team;
3) Arsn/Spurs/Pool-that 4th place spot even harder now
4) SAF reputational damage
5) Man Utd?-time will tell
Pogba-winners and Real loosers

If we could go back in time, inject. Fergie with some monkey glands, and reinvigorate him, I believe that he would continue winning trophies without Pogba. Given another ten years career there would probably be another half dozen titles. Where would the mistake be then?
We don't know the ins and outs of the situation at the time, it's all conjecture.
Only an idiot wouldn't recognise this, oh hang on, it's RDD who doesn't grasp it.

Of course I am aware that RDD's level of football knowledge easily enables him to recognise Fergies errors.

I was very impressed with Pogba's performance on Friday night. He did very well and showed what we've been missing in midfield for too long. With no preseason under his belt, he was still impressive.
Yes he maybe ego eccentric and overpriced, but he's a special player and we can afford it.

52 we do agree on lots of things (one of my favourite posters tbh) but I just disagree on this.
SAF almost undoubtedly would have continued his success but that doesn't mean he never made mistakes. I'm sure he admitted himself he made a mistake with Stam even though we were still successful under him nobody is perfect everyone makes mistakes. He was just as damn close as we are going to get
I'm sure phelps has made plenty of mistakes, but just less than his opponents hence the crazy medal haul, although his body probably plays a part.
The American swimmer in case that wasn't obvious.

It's crazy how Juve effectively swapped Pogba for Higuain....what were they thinking?!
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Not at all. He's a goalscorer and a match winner, these are the players who win you points and trophies. Pogba won't score many or win many games for United which makes the fee crazy, however he's the type of player United need and if you've got it, spend it.
Juve will be a better side now.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
TBH the one player being a CM and the other being a ST doesn't really justify the deal considering its Higuaín and Pogba.
Also I'd argue the midfield is at least as important as the strikers when its comes to winning games and trophies.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
No. The strikers are most important, hence they cost more. Goals win games.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Good luck scoring those trophy winning goals without a good midfield backing you up.
I mean there is a reason for Spain's period of dominance and it definitely isn't because they had the worlds best striker.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I didn't say midfielders weren't important. I said match winners and goalscorers are most important, hence why they cost the most. It's really not difficult. Juventus paid a lot for a match winner, United for a player they needed and were prepared to pay for.

Nobody is questioning SAF achievements you clown. Doesn't mean he hasn't made mistakes. He has. Losing Pogba is one. A big one. ANY FOOL KNOWS THAT.

Tbh a young very good / potentially world class midfielder is going to cost you more than a very good striker whose rapidly approaching 30.
If we were comparing equals in ability and age then the striker would obviously cost more, but considering the age difference and ability then Pogba should have cost a fair bit more.
I'd rate Neymar above Pogba but if we were to say Pogba is as good as him then obviously Neymar would go for more.
But how can the striker be the match winner if an inferior striker with a better midfield behind him takes the prizes?
In that instance it is probably the midfield that has won them the match.

How boring must it be as a player to play in a team that completely dominates the league every year...

TOOR just talks shiiite. If we'd bought an 89m striker he'd be arguing that's no good without a decent midfield, so the midfield's more important.
Rashford, Martial, Ibrahimavic and Rooney up top. Pogba, Mkhitaryan and Mata looking forward - we've got very good options now. I don't know if Carrick, Morgan or Ander have got it in them to be a Makelele, but if they do that's the attack & mf sorted. Was very pleased with Shaw and Tony bombing forward on Friday as well.
Jose Mourinho's put the fun back into going to football. Whodathunkit?

Yeah its not just a good first 11 now but I feel we have some good squad options as well, with some good academy players coming through its ticking all the boxes (as long as they get a bit of game time)
