Since the EPL began (1992/93 season).
Going back to the start of the Premier League era. Liverpool had the most penalties awarded (140), followed by Arsenal (131).
Anyway, here is the list of top five clubs awarded the most spot kicks in the epl history.
1. Liverpool 140
2. Arsenal 131
3. Man Utd 123
4. Chelsea 122
5. Newcastle 114
I am not that surprised to see some of the big clubs making the list.
What are the main factors which contributes to most penalties given to certain clubs ?
For example, is it because :
- The referees favour the big clubs ?
- Top teams spend more time in the opposition box?
- They have/had more divers in their squads ?
- Other factors...
Thoughts....

It was also 13 years ago

The article is about since the premier league began... The post was about the invincibles... Dunno why it being 13 years ago is such a problem?

I bet if you checked that stay over the last 10 years, Arsenal won't be anywhere near the top 3 or 4
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Exactly what I was thinking.
The players we had in the past like the Invincibles were far more likely to get penalties as they were so good and played a fast game.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
The only reason you were the invincibles at all was down to a shocking penalty for Pires diving to save a point against portsmouth

& a dive by Forlan @ OT, where RVN hits the bar, Keown hits him etc...
Re the Pires one, it was in the 39th minute @ Highbury against a recently promoted Portsmouth. We were struggling a bit at the time but the way opposition fans purport it, it was the last kick of the game....

I did actually think it was later in the game tbh... It was the equalizer tho right?
That rvn penalty... Gutted at the time... Proper nasty game tho... I kinda miss that, united v arsenal has went a bit tame

Shugs 👍🏻
I still remember the game in 1990 with the fight, points deduction
Much like England & Argentina, there's always been a bit of beef between us, makes it more interesting although way more stressful

I remember that one too.... 21 man brawl... 2 yellow cards... We'd be playing 5 a side these days

We probably would have rescued the game anyway to be fair as that was only the 37th minute. Our unbeaten run was ended by a lot of controversy though! Rooney diving for a pen. Neville brothers being allowed to keep hacking Reyes and took Mike Dean forever to book them. Ruud stamping on Cashley and getting away with it.

Gerrard's diving or 'slips' being reflected in those stats
It'd be interesting to see just how many of those penalties were given away by Titus Bramble

Even after all those penalties, they still were unable to win a league title
Even Leicester did ffs

Finally someone got the gist of my article

The list on the whole is quite logical, except for the one side in there that's spent most of the PL era camped in their own half.

Yeah but "we probably would have won the game anyway".......
.....to use your logic. If you scored the equalizer in the 39th min then why did you not go on to score the winner? Completely daft to suggest you would have scored anyway when you obviously couldn't...otherwise why didn't you? Didn't fancy winning the match?
Also, that pen was not the only goal we scored against you that day and the Rooney dive was nowhere near as bad as the Pires one. At least there was a hint of contact in Roo's!
The rest of your post is nonsense.
