On a single season/Int tournament basi

Who has been the best team you’ve seen in your lifetime:-

In your own league?

In an international tournament?

In a mainland European league?

And the Scottish League?

In our own league and I am going pre Premiership here, Pool’s 87/88 team. Eeeeeeeewwwwww Flash needs to bathe in bleach.

Brazil’s 94 World Cup winning team is as good as I’ve seen at a one off tournament.

Controversial one here, but the Milan team consisting of Van Basten, Gullit, Baresi, Rijkaard etc (yes I know I’m in a minority of 1)

And I could be accused of bias here, but Rangers’ 92/93 team was fantastic. They were apparently robbed by Marseille of the opportunity to play in the European Cup Final and went the whole European campaign unbeaten that season if memory serves.

Our 2000 team league wise was better than the treble season.

Invincible don't come close to it.

Chelsea 05 may have a case.

As i've used my multi-boarding for the day (i think) it would be nice to see a thread where there was a

"Matches you'd like to see"

Mine would be that Milan Team vs Pep's Barca.

But it would be closely run by Chelsea's 04/05 Title Winning team vs Arsenal's 'Invincibles'

Although technically you could say we did play them on our way to winning it in 04/05.

you know what I was just about to post something about the 2005 Arsenal players like Vieira and Henry as being disinterested, wanting to leave etc but thought I'd check Wiki first. In fact both of those key players had decent seasons in 2005.

hmmm...........still reckon a peak 2004 Arsenal would beat a peak Chelsea 2005. Got little to back this up though to be fair

Perhaps the fact that Chelsea were younger, hungrier had something to do with it? Yeah that'll do

You can't really compare over the years, but the best team I ever watched was Bob Paisley's Liverpool. I fecking hated them but they played fantastic football and very generally absolutely unstoppable.

Chelsea 04-05 PL

Spain 2010 World Cup I guess

Inter Milan 2009-10 treble winners

My own league would be Mourinhos first spell at Chelsea. His record at home during that tenure speaks for itself.

Internationally, can it be anyone other than Spain? I don't think we'll see an international team that dominant again.

Best club side is obviously Pep's Barca. Aside from the trophies, they brought a hybridisation of total football that is still a winning style today.

International: Yugoslavia 1990

--------------------------------------------------------------

Odd but interesting choice...

odd because they were absolutely battered by West Germany.... but had some really outstanding young talent in the squad.

Kind of would be a great pick for a "who could have been a great team" thread

the break up of Yugoslavia meant they couldn't mature together

Maybe I'm just a Red Star fan.

Most dynamic tournament champs would be Nederlands 88.

The invincible Arsenal team was quite epic but have to go with the Juventus team that got to the CL final.
They were robbed and not having Nedved was costly to them.

In your own league? Arsenal 2001-02 (or maybe the unbeaten Prem season, both were amazing)

In an international tournament? Spain. I preferred the early 00's Brazil sides but Spain were just ruthless at one stage.

In a mainland European league? Barca

And the Scottish League?

I would favour the Brazil team of 2002 to have beaten almost all other world champion winning ones.
It featured 4 former and future FIFA WPOTY winners (Ronaldo, Rivaldo, Ronaldinho and Kaka) in the squad along with the lilkes of Cafu, Roberto Carlos and Lucio.
