In your own league?

Our 1999 team.

In an international tournament?

The Argentine team that won in 1978

In a mainland European league?

Ajax in the 70's

And the Scottish League?

Never watched it

Own League- Pre prem, yeah that 'Pool Side. Prem wise, Arsenal 03/04 joint with us 04/05

International Tourn, I'd say Argies 86

European League, Id agree again would have more than matched modern Barca, plus miles better players at the back

Scottish, I do favour the 'gers and the side that knocked Leeds out of Europe was ace, however the Dundee Utd side of 86/87 that knocked Barca out on their way to the Uefa cup final was quality.

In your own league?

Uniteds treble team... had it all, flair, character, power

In an international tournament?

Ability wise... Brazil 82

In a mainland European league?

Probably Barca

And the Scottish League?

Rangers 92/93 team was excellent but their D!ck Advocaat side was as good (record winning margin in the second season I think)

In your own league?

Manchester United 1994/95
Arsenal 2001/2002 (prefer them over the invincibles)
Chelsea 2004/2005

In an international tournament?

France 98 purely down to nostalgia around the fact it was my first International tournament I actually sat down and watched.

In a mainland European league?
Barcelona 00's and beyond.

And the Scottish League?

Dafuq?

In your own league?

Maybe the United double winning team of 1994. Shame it wasn't really allowed to play together in the CL.

In an international tournament?

France 82-86. Only really saw them fleetingly at Mexico 86, but have watched plenty on youtube.

In a mainland European league?

Milan of the late 80's/early 90's. Or Barca under Guardiola, however boring I found them.

And the Scottish League?

Dunno really, Rangers in 92/93? Remember watching DU in the 86/87 UEFA Cup on Midweek Sports Special.

Own league
(bias declared...) Liverpool 87/88 was special. I'm told the early 80s teams were better but I was too young to remember.
Outside of Liverpool then the Arsenal 03/04 team was a joy to watch.

International
Hard to answer this one. The Spanish team circa 08-10 was pretty special. Euro-WC-Euro; 3 tournament wins in a row is impressive.
The Holland '88 team was pretty impressive as well. As was the '94 Brazil team.

Europe
Not controversial at all Flash - that Milan team was amazing. So balanced as a side, Baresi is probably the best defender I've seen.
The Barca team of Pep era was pretty special though.

Don't watch Scottish football.

Pep's Barca are the greatest footballing side I've ever witnessed. I remember watching the '94 CL final where Milan destroyed Cryuff's dream team but too young to really take it in and from what I've read the Sacchi team were superior to Capello's.

Best domestically we're United '99, not just the players and the talent but the mentality, no other team really compared.

Most international tournaments I've seen haven't ever had that many stand out sides, probably the best were Spain in '08. France in '00 were pretty good too.

Brazil 94 is a strange choice. I felt they were a bit uninspired, save Romario and one or two others. France in 2000 and Spain at their recent peak were better international teams, in my opinion.

Loved the United team in 92-94.

We were at our most dominant circa 1999-2000. Won the league in second gear and still crushed a lot of teams at Old Trafford.

Great cup run that year as well.

Seriously? The way I remember them was functional (perhaps even combative) with one outrageously good player.

I actually think our team which won three league titles and a CL were strong than the treble winning team, even though that team were obviously brilliant, and have more iconic status, I just think the PL and CL were harder to win in '08, and we did play brilliantly, stayed unbeaten in Europe just like in '99 too.

Clockwork, you're absolutely right. I didn't mean the 94 at all, I was thinking of the Ronaldo - Ronaldinho - Rivaldo team and for some reason wrote 94.

Brain fart I'm afraid.

Not siren about the cl being harder to win in 08, do you remember our cl group in 99 and the teams we beat on the way to the final.

For me I loved our Double winning team in 1961, since that time I guess the Liverpool team of the late 70's and early 80's were pretty good.

Arsenal for me have played possibly the best football the PL has seen since its inception.

Internationally, the Dutch team in the mid to late 70's were incredible. It is amazing that the only tournament they won was the 1988 European Championships!
