Muggleton was only with us for one season. He only conceded 9 goals. In the time he was with us he managed to break our all-time record for consecutive clean sheets - a record which stood for another 10 years after he left. Remember that he achieved this with Mark McNally, Mike Galloway and Barry Smith in front of him. Muggleton only left Celtic because he was caught up in internal politics when Burns became manager and brought back his mate Bonner, who Macari had released. The fact that people keep listing Muggleton as a terrible Celtic keeper is baffling, I can only assume it was because he was quite small (for a keeper) and had a silly name.

It has always annoyed me how Muggleton has wrongly been rembered by history.

Curly

In his defence, Carl's card was probably marked from the start by the

first 3 letters in his surname.

Ghordy - minus 26?

Chill billy.

We can only reach a lame Petrofac Cup -5.

The record for consecutive clean sheets was 6 Curly

Probably the only clean sheets he had, but if your figures are right then that gives him a 50% shut out rate.

I'm not arguing that he was a great keeper, just arguing that he has been misrembered, we have had far worse in that position alone.

And yes I have made that same argument on here for years now (back to bbc days). Got so sick of making it that I just copy and paste now

Aye, TMQ - and am hearing it's -19 down Govan way, with the very real prospect of -22
