Which Chelsea player should win this award this year ?

Kante seems set to become the first player to win consecutive PL titles with two different sides. His sensational work rate and intense tackling has provided a bite and dynamism to the midfield which looked deficient last season.
Hazard for a man who is always on the end of bruising tackles from defenders trying to scare him out of the game, he loves having possession with an opponent close to him. His goal against Arsenal was sublime to watch. This goal is a strong contender for the best goal of the season. He has already scored 13 goals this season, hopefully many more to come until the end of the season.
Luiz. has been rock solid in the heart of the Chelsea defence. Hasn't put a foot wrong and he is probably one of the main reasons that Chelsea kept more clean sheets than other PL this seaaon.

Eh? Hump? Other? It's clear the praise from your fellow Chelsea fan was with that much touted transfer in mind. Why else would someone say one of the best players in the league had been "overlooked".

You are referring to Broquin post ? Didn't see it until now. I partially agree with him though. I think Sanchez is not in the same level as Hazard . It's a matter of opinion though.

Overall I think Hazard is a superior all round player to Sanchez, but I still do feel Sanchez is the more deserving of the award for this season.
I wouldn't necessarily say Sanchez is underrated, but he is being overlooked when it comes to discussions on the player of the year. Most pundits and football writers have been naming either Kante or Hazard as their player of the year, or on occasions Ibrahimovic.
I recently saw an article by BBC Sport about their pundits pick for player of the year. None of the pundits nominated Sanchez, which is even more stranger when you see some of them nominate Lukaku and Ibrahimovic. Obviously BBC pundits are pretty dire, but I've seen virtually no other writers or pundits elsewhere pick Sanchez as the player of the year.

Alexis has had a better season than Hazard but neither of those guys should be player of the season. Should be Kante or Kane depending on who wins the title.

Don't fully understand how they come up with the ratings, but he's right up there for chances created. I saw something recently that detailed clear cut chances created that should've been scored and shots that had hit the woodwork, which put him into the mid teens for both stats this season.
Don't like to deal with "what ifs," but his season could've looked very different with a few slices of luck. He's been at the heart of most of our creativity

Perhaps, he has played well against little sides, which is probably where these stats come in, but he does tend to disappear/play poorly against big teams with good pressing systems. Don't give him time and he becomes a bit rash. Give him time and he can play.

It always amazes me when POTY awards are handed out before the end of the season. I realize this is just a discussion, but there are 8 league games still to play, and at least one more FA Cup match. That's 20% of the season still to play - I don't know how we can make decisions yet.
Until last week I would have said most fans were talking about Kante as the clear leader - but having had 2 average displays (by his standards), and Hazard had 2 great performances all of a sudden Hazard is the leading the race. Who knows how much will change over the next 9-10 games.

To me, Alonso is the real surprise of the season. After the first few games I would never have thought I would include him on a list like this. But he is absolutely the most improved player in the team (just ahead of Pedro). It really has been a great team effort to date though. Let's just see what happens over the next few weeks.
