Double 14 for MvG for 14-11, then Wright takes out double 1 after 4 missed attempts at a double.

Tops leaves it 15-12 to MvG. One away from glory.

And that is that. Michael van Gerwen is the champion again.

The Players Championships Finals is next, starting on Friday.
No Phil Taylor in that one, and seedings based on the performances in the 22 Players Championship events meaning a shake up on the normal Order of Merit rankings leading to an interesting draw.

old man who then allegedly told him ‘you’ll be the best player in the world one day’. Now perhaps that happened but with no world championship even considered and darts not televised for another number of years I choose to see it as a total Christmas fairytale that he has no qualms about passing off as real
