Wolves v Reading Match preview [LIVE]

On Tuesday 13th March Wolves welcome Reading to Molineux for the re-scheduled game. Originally planned to be televised this game will now be streamed on Wolves TV instead.

The game comes on the back of a disappointing defeat for Wolves. On Wednesday last week Nuno’s lads travelled to Elland Road and enjoyed success there with a 3-0 win. On Saturday, Villa Park was the venue for a comprehensive victory for the hosts just when it seemed that Wolves were getting back to winning ways.

Still maintaining their place at the top of the table however, Wolves now have 76 points and a 3 points lead over 2nd placed Cardiff and a 7 points lead over third placed Aston Villa.

Reading, in 19th place in the league with 36 points are just 6 points above the relegation zone. Since the start of the year their only win is against (then) bottom of the league Burton Albion and in those 12 games they have accumulated just 8 points.
Reading’s joint leading scorer is ex-Wolves striker Jon Dadi Bodvarsson. With 9 goals in 23 appearances for the Royals, this is in stark contrast to his record for Wolves where he managed just 3 goals in 48 appearances.

The Wolves support are starting to get a little restless after several disappointing results of late and the home crowd will be expecting 3 points from this game to get back on track and continue the push for the anticipated promotion.

Gem’s prediction: 3-1

Reflecting on recent defeats, it strikes me that both Villa and Fulham pressed us high up the field, put pressure on us as we were playing out if defence. In defensive situations when we needed to get the ball away from our box, we failed and got punished. Its one of those things that comes with experience, knowing when to play out and when to welly it.

I agree that the better teams do make things harder all over the pitch, and there is much more emphasis nowadays on what teams do when they don’t have the ball. I watched the Man City v Chelsea game on Sky recently and the work City put in to get the ball back in Chelsea’s half was quite incredible and a big factor in them winning the game. I actually thought one of our big faults on Saturday was that we stepped back off the Villa defence in the second half with our front three playing deeper, and that meant Villa were much more comfortable building their attacks than they looked in the first half.

But I don’t think we should beat ourselves up about losing away to decent teams like Villa and Fulham. We thrashed Leeds last week and the games we have thus week and upcoming against Hull, Blues and Sheff Wed will be much more like the Leeds game than the Villa game. You don’t have to win every match to get promoted

True, any of us would have taken this position at the start of the season. Top with 10 to play. No need to panic.

Nice to see Barry Douglas get a Scotland call up for their upcoming friendlies against Costa Rica and Hungary. Not sure he'll get ahead of Robertson of Liverpool, who has been outstanding this season.

I'm sure Saiss will be on duty for Morocco and I wonder how many of our players will be selected for the Portugal squad.

Here’s hoping QPR have a good week. They are at Villa on Tuesday and at Fulham on Saturday. Come on you R’s

Cardiff have a tricky week with away games at Brentford and Derby.

I know we have it in our own hands to win the league still and the team has to concentrate on its own performances and not look for favours from elsewhere...

But as fans it must be about time Villa and Cardiff dropped a few points and let us all relax just a little bit?!?

Really rare for four sides to be going into the last 10 games all with a reasonable shout for top 2.

Gem, from our point of view, the only thing that matters is what I posted 8 hours ago.
