Limelight - Leicester

So, if there was ever a moment to ponder...?.

Exposure to tabloid and the ever present public eye that is social media, as Leicester City supporters this has never been so dramatic?

To the press, the escapades of 2015/16 were of astonishment and enjoyment. Something to wonder! It was little old Leicester going about their yoyo thing that they do, to which we unequivacally ripped up the script!

Fast forward 3 years, a couple of crappy managers, system reset, and a load of really poor home games, we're back on the scene!! And not just for football!!

We look in a pretty good place at the minute on the pitch. 4th in the league after playing half our opening 8 games against the "big 6"!! And only losing twice narrowly by a penalty. Our next four fixtures are: Burnely, Southampton, Crystal Palace & Arsenal. No easy run in the PL, but you would have to say that's pretty favourable.

While the limelight diminishes from the boring Spurs contingent (everyones getting bored of them and their players now, they've been overhyped and are disappearing into a formless pit of International exile) and Man Utd's dive towards the relegation zone. The focus is well and truly on Leicester City! And not for just good reasons.

Before the season started there were a few biggin' us up, but now we're talk of the town(s)! You can tell the whole industry doesn't want to miss out on predicting the next "Leicester" So West Ham and Everton are thrown in there for good measure.

Now, this WAG thing! Lols!
If you want my tuppence worth, so feckin' what?
.....But I have found myself drawn to the tabloid headlines, it's disgusting! Becky Vardy looked absolutely destroyed coming out that airport, whether it was her or not, none of these people get any space! And what GOOD comes from Colleen making that statement? For pride, for fame, for popularity? I'm not going into ethics or my personal opinion on this stuff, because we'll all argue til the Wags come home, but you have to take a step back and think about the your actions, from both sides.

Now, onto our next culprit!
I've not seen the footage/pictures but there was a whole TalkSport programme tonight dedicating itself to James Madison visiting a casino this weekend, while his teammates got a lesson in professional football from the Czechs!!
Maybe he knows better!!

Two of our best players, targetted personally. And with maximum exposure.

I think Maddison has been naive. He is sent home by the England squad because he has a virus - fair enough. He then proceeds to go to a casino on the night England are playing with his hood up at the table to try and remain anonymous. It’s just daft - nothing more than that, I’m sure he’ll be reminded of his responsibilities etc

Yes definitely naive.

I'll be greatful to return to club football next week, there is then so much more for us all (including media) to talk about

One man’s naive is the next man’s stupid...

I can work out if Maddison is just naive, young, or just incredibly arrogant. Or even a mix of the 3.

If going to a casino with his hood up and spending lots of money on an awful bag is the worst he does though, I think I can forgive him!!!

You just wonder what goes through his head. Like no one is going to notice one of the biggest stars of Leicester city football club walking into a casino in Leicester on the night he was due to be in the England team

Unless he knew exactly that BS, and knew exactly what he was doing. Let me make a little point here Mr Southgate, Coleen Rooney style.

Maybe he’s more clever than we think.

Den den deeeeeeeeeeer....

I feel surprised by this, in that I figure my traditional role would be telling off poor behaviour while Black Starr would be saying the opposite, but I really think this is a fuss over nothing. He was ill midweek, he was released because he probably wouldn’t be at 100% and Southgate didn’t want it spreading around the squad; by the weekend he was feeling mostly better so went out for a bit. And now the newspapers are framing it as someone pulling a sickie so they could go out to a casino, which they could do pretty much any time.

I’m not buying it. And I don’t think this is about him being in the England squad or that extra attention. Some sections of the media plain dislike him, and have done for a while.

Well that’s a rubbish conspiracy theory Dunge. Where’s the drama in that?
