Steve mcnamara has got to be one of the worst coaches ever to inherit an international job.Was it his success at bradford that earned him the job? His selection as peacock as captain sets the trend,the guy has been out injured for a long time and is clearly past it,sinfield is not and never will be a stand off.Why not give some of the youngsters a game to see what they can do.? Its about the future not the past.!

Mac aint a coach end of, Dont expect the team to win many games and you will be over the moon if they do manage the odd win.
Our game aint geared up to field a top rate international team, and its just taken a few steps back thanks to SL.

Atkin. That is my point,why play someone like peacock,who is well past it or sinfield out of position at off half,much as though i like sinfield,but he isnt going to blind the aussies with pace. Young lomax at saints has plenty of pace and looks a decent prospect.What are we going to do throw him in at the deepend,surely this was an ideal opportunity to blood some youngsters and see what their made of.! Tomkins switching to off half would be another alternative.!

Cravenred.Like you i thought this was a warm up for the 4 nations.We all know what the older players can do,so why not give some youngsters a go,as for mcnamara he is a joke,after years of failure at bradford and he is about to get the sack he gets a better job,unbelieveable.!

A lot of people were surprised with the effort put in by the Exiles after just a couple of training sessions.
Rugby league is a simple game and if you do the small things correct you are nearly there, besides it was these players best chance to show what they have got in order to get an extension or another contract........another season on 200K is a pretty good incentive.

Mcnamara when he finishes with England will never get a top coaching job again, he was a strange appointment following on from guiding Bradford to their longest losing record in their history.
He will likely be a flop at internationla level as he simply does not have it on the evidence we have seen so far.

Those players that ran out for England the other night, we already know what they are capable of.
I would of thought it would of been a great opportunity to give a few players a chance to show what they have got in a test like atmosphere.
It was interesting to note that Widdop played in the 7 jersey for Melbourne last night and played well in organising the run of play whilst the top line players were un-available due to state of origin......cheers
