RIP airline industry

In amongst all the other chaos going on now, it looks very possible that a huge swath of the airline industry will go bust. I doubt any of us will particularly mourn a pollution factory like that industry going bust it does mean a very possible knock on effect whereby local businesses and local travel spots do very well out of this in the aftermath as people find staying in England (for example) for their holidays in future to be the sensible and possibly only choice. I’ve had to cancel my trip to Australia for a while as it doesn’t make sense to be moving country at a crazy time like this while I still have some infrastructure of a safety net in Europe.

I’m sure governments will bail out the big boys to an extent but I think the majority of the smaller ones will be facked.

My work has just officially closed our office off at Heathrow, so we are either being forced to take unpaid leave/holiday or I have to do manual labour work instead for the next few months.

Time to get your hands dirty. You won't be alone soon, can't imagine that many people will be escaping the impact of this in some way.

Sorry to hear that, Arab.

Very recently, while all of this was still happening in China or Korea, I read that book "Spitfire" (highly recommended). Early on in the war, Lord Beaverbrook published a price list showing Britons how much each constituent part of the aircraft cost, and people were able and willing to chip in and pay for the clocks, the compasses etc. They raised a fortune and kept production going.

This is going to be a war effort, where people and industries have to contribute in ways they hadn't previously imagined.

Same. The reach and knock-on of all this is unfolding all the time.

I’m annoyed because I always knew something like this was gonna happen and by that point I hoped I was already set up in Oz with an outback Mad Max style hideaway and a big Jeep to take me out of society and a life of hunting kangaroos and smashing hungry 18 year old blondes

Maybe the next apocalypse
