Found out, pretty much..

The article sums it up. We have played a certain way for about 18 months which up until a month ago stood us in pretty good stead.

However this has now been successfully rebuffed by the likes of West Brom, Fulham, Newcastle, Man Utd and Burnley.

Teams that have played us on the counter in a rope-a-dope fashion.

We are dominating the ball, attacking from wide areas, with opposition teams playing narrow to ensure we cross it without a target man.

Origi was supposed to add that dynamic but he forgot to get into the box today.

We have plenty of pace in the team but that is useless if the opposition is allowing you to get into space, who are you beating with that pace? Nobody, you’re just driving into space quicker which means you lose the ball quicker giving the opposition a chance to counter.

Klopp looked understandably down, and yes it is perplexing how we haven’t managed to score.

He has to find a solution though, can’t keep playing the exact same way against similar opposition and expecting a different outcome. We had just one clear cut chance today and that was through an opposition mistake.

Trust Klopp to sort this out with what we have.

It’s apparent there are no January signings coming mind so he’s going to have to manage and coach his way out of this.

We have:

Insufficient cover at CB

Inadequate cover across the front 3

No competition at RB

A manager seemingly unable to manage us out of this rot with the current players.

Given that we wont be strengthening in this transfer window, I see no reason to be optimistic for the remainder of the season.

At this point, top 4 is the best we can expect and is now our priority.

sit deep , give liverpool no space behind your back laine...and counter them

that was always the way to play against liverpool
blindingly obvious imo

Teams tried that last season but we were clinical and converted the few chances we had whilst not conceding.

The difference over the past 5 games is that our finishing has been shocking and we are now gifting opponents, who don't have to do much, with chances to score.

Wekl yesterday i think they only had 2 chances and kne was a pen.

Same with wba

I think it is nore to do with the attack. Take chances like origis or moes versus newcastlw and you win against these teams who play that tactic.

We are creating chances, perhaps not as many as we're used to, but our finishing has been very bad....to the point of not hitting the target. Like last night Origi's and Bobby's (our 2 best chances) we both off target.

Our front 3 have, over the passed 3 years, missed decent chances regularly but it didnt matter because we used to create a lot of decent chances. It's just that, now we're creating fewer, those missed chances are proving costly.

Liverpool are like the great FA cup winning Wigan team or the stunning Birmingham and Swansea winning league cup teams of a few years ago. Won a trophy against all odds then teams just started taking them seriously for a bit and they just get relegated. Very similar pattern with Liverpool.
