Owners are the Problem??????????

I see and hear that a lot of people, ex-players, pundits, fans and journalists saying that the managers, players and fans of the BIG 6 shouldn't be penalised because it is all because of their greedy owners.

Well I'm sorry but it's not just greedy owners demanding more money for themselves, and their clubs, but everyone involved in these clubs.

The fans of these clubs always want their club to buy and have the best players and managers, whatever the cost to the club, and keep demanding more. Transfers of 100 million plus, players on 100k plus per week and Managers like Pep Guardiola on 20 million per year.

The players and their agents demand obscene amounts for their services, which is very rarely questioned by their own fans.

I didn't see many fans complaining about their teams spending and indebtedness before Monday night.

The Managers of these clubs now demand and earn crazy money for a lack of success. Mourinho for example has walked away with £95+ million just in severance pay-outs after being sacked by Chelsea twice, Madrid, Man U and Spurs, and will walk back into another multi-million job very quickly. Peter Lim already wants him at Valencia.

What needs to happen is a complete change to how football and football clubs operate financially, and now is the time to make this happen.

I have no sympathy for the players, management and most of their fans, because at first you all thought you would still be in the Prem, and the players still getting their International caps. Only when other fans hit out late on Sunday and early Monday, together with proposed sanctions did the Big six's fans start to protest.

Only later did the players of these clubs slowly start to comment, but this was only after after Leeds had gone viral on TV with their T Shirt slogans of "Football is for the Fans", and "Earn It" with the Champions League Logo on the front. Something that Klopp complained about before the game, and also after the games Administrators had started talking of sanctions and bans for these clubs.

All these clubs deserve punishment both financially and also with points deductions for this season and for the coming season. And if anyone thinks this unfair, well rules were broken.

Nobody gave a damn about Leeds' demise in the Nineties which was caused by a greedy Chairman wanting Champions League football, because it would give his club millions more. Nobody gave a second thought for Luton, Bolton, Wigan, Bury and Sheff Weds, because they were mismanaged and broke rules, but were not big enough to cause an uproar.

Football Globally is Bankrupt and unless major changes happen very soon, the game we know and love will slowly disappear.

It's the fans' fault for wanting their team to be successful?

Fans never moan about greedy agents?

Fans of the 6 didn't care until the clubs were threatened with sanctions?

Load of ballacks.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Didn't see many fans protesting before tonight about £NIC and Levy.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
There was a protest. Not a huge one, granted, but we're out of it already.

Personally I don't want the owners out. Levy yes, for his role in the ESL and subsequent statement. But ENIC have been pretty decent to be fair. Sure they haven't pumped a load of money in but football money is reinvested and we're run sustainably with wages etc. If it weren't for Covid we'd be smashing it right now.

Do you honestly think Levy did this on his own without the backing of Lewis. And, at least you have smashed it back to 6th place after tonight.

Good question. Probably not, though Lewis seems to be very much a silent partner when it comes to Spurs. I suspect if it was run past him the finances would look great so he'd sign off. What does he care? He's a billionaire in his 80s (?) living in the Bahamas.

Regardless, they have been good owners. This was a terrible move but I can forgive the odd mistake in the overall context of what they've done for the club. What I can't get over is that Levy has refused to admit he made a mistake, so he's not going to learn. He needs to go.

Not fair on fans or players of the clubs to say that!

The announcement was made very late on Sunday evening. It was intentionally released at a time where the news might make less of an impact.

The players would have no demand if it wasn't for the threat of another owner offering ridiculous sums.

If all the owners simply agreed not to offer more than £100k/week to players from now on, then no player would be able to demand more than £100k/week. They would either take it or retire, and none of them are going to retire any earlier than they would have before.

Why should a player be responsible for turning down money and negotiating his salary down.

Ridsdale got us in the mess we had. Not the players, Everyone has rightly blamed Ridsdale. And we took our punishment.

These clubs should be allowed to go bust like we had to and that's the only way these stupid owners will stop what they're doing.

It's why Perez et al are so keen for the ESL, or some future variant, to succeed and be adopted. They've dug their own clubs into such deep financial holes, they'll do anything to resolve it without actually working for it and at any cost, forgive the pun, to the rest of the footballing world.

I don't blame the players, or the fans for that matter. We all want success for our clubs, that's the whole point of supporting/following them. I don't want it at any cost for sure, but I'd definitely like to see my team competing with the very best - who wouldn't?

Strangely though I did enjoy, in a weird sort of way, the days of lower league footy. Not in terms of product, what we have now is infinitely better of course, but it all seemed so much simpler !!!

Exactly why they have made this desperate move. Dug themselves a hole and they're trying to dig their way out of it.

And League 1 was fine. I kept my season ticket for all 3 seasons and have some great memories.

What these 12 owners don't understand is that it doesn't matter where you are in the league as long there is hope that you can improve. And in League 1 we had a lot of hope.

Doesn't need to be realistic, just needs to be possible, no matter how remote.
