Frustrating night for us but been hugely impressed with St Johnstone every time I have seen them this season. Felt it would have been an injustice if they weren't in the top 6 and they could now end up with a cup double.
Their organisation and use of the ball is hugely improved from under Wright, who don't forget left after frustrations of constant budget cuts and publicly questioning what exactly he was supposed to achieve. One of the best coached teams in the country and Davidson looks like he has a bright future in Management ahead.
A couple of things:
1. When was the last time a non old firm club did the cup double?
2. Clubs in recent years up here have had success deviating from the tired model of recycling the same names for the same types of clubs doing the same type of job.
4/6 current top 6 are managed by guys in their first managerial job, whilst in the bottom 6 the two clubs who have had a good season by day one expectations are United and St Mirren who are managed by guys in their first Premiership gig. Add Alexander to that who has started well at Motherwell and are we seeing a new approach to coaching u here that could take our game in hopefully a new and modern direction?

St Johnstone deserved to go through. They wanted it more than us.
McGregor at fault for the goal for me. If you watch it back he's almost at the back post trying to get involved with the players on the line when the ball was placed inside the empty 6 yard box. McGregor could have punched that ball before it even got on Clark's head.
Poor in the cups but if anyone had said to me at the start of the season we'd win the league at a canter, get to last 16 in Europa and pumped out the domestic cups then I'd take it 10 times out of 10.

Agreed.
Cups are nice and winning the SC would have been a great way to end the season.
Anything can happen in a one off cup tie though.
Winning the league was an absolutely terrific achievement. Ironically I dont think the fact we won it so early has helped us in Europe or the SC.
