While much of the football world was caught off guard by Cristiano Ronaldo heading back to Manchester United late in the summer transfer window, former UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov said Ronaldo tipped him off well in advance.
"A month ago, he told me that he was moving to Manchester United," Khabib, a close friend to CR7, told reporters. "I expected this deal to take place. I think that Manchester United is more suitable for him than Juventus. For me, the transition was not a surprise."
The comments fly in the face of the narrative the reunion was a last-minute decision.

Tbh he had 2 choices. United or psg. Psg have Messi so don't need him. United were the only club that would pay him the salary he wants. It was that or he rotted on the juve bench, which he wouldn't let happen.

It may not be anything but United did publish quite a few items on social media featuring Ronaldo over the summer.
I do think we were probably interested in him all summer but were waiting for him to announce he was leaving Juve.

Maybe he had a contract clause but juve dropped him end of last season, and just managed to scrape CL qualification. He def wasn't first choice at that point.
