showing just how important that cm position is and how having someone that can control the game, take players out of the game with a dribble and a pass can completely change the way a team looks.
We know he is past it and he doesn't have the legs for it week in week out anymore and in fact he does have some absolute stinkers but for 15 minutes last night, he was the best player on the pitch by a mile.
Currently as was evidenced for most of the game yesterday, we just don't control games well and give way too many chances up through the middle of the park. Are there any possible solutions with the players we currently have for the remainder of this season?

Matic is quality on the ball, and good postionally, but shouldnt be a key player at this stage of his career.

Contrary to the mass-numpty baseless observations United do not really have a midfielder issue - except on the wings. Indeed, the United midfielder choices/range/options are among the best in the league.
The problems lie elsewhere.

Matic is a microcosm of this team. Capable of performing well during small periods of a game, and whole games from time to time, but largely lacking the capability to put in performances on a consistent basis.

Yup. And good management is using him in short spurts. Him and Lingard coming on at anytime change us in terms of tempo and attacking thrust in midfield.
I am sure everyone wishes he was 8 years younger.

Right because there's a 25 year old Matic waiting to be signed. Or is ownership ready to go buy a midfield or pay 25 million for a 36 year old "big name"
