If Wayne accomplishes this and gets Derby into the playoffs the following season - my ears would perk up. He deserves to have some ups and downs and a few accomplishments before we give him the job. Otherwise it's Ole II. The Ole debacle hurt a lot - a Wazza debacle would be too much to bear.

This. It's obviously way too early to consider Rooney to lead a giant club, and he'd do well to look at Gerrard's coaching career path as opposed to Lampard's. But that doesn't mean we should overlook what a fine job he's done at Derby to date. Even being the conversation to stay up is very impressive.

He lost last night. So atleast for the next few days we won't have to hear how someone who's 23rd and lost more than they've won is doing an "incredible" job.

He will be the manager after Ralf's successor (when the Glazers need another human shield).
