Hoping we dodge Europa

I personally hope we don't finish in any of the European places for next season, think a bit of a reset is needed. I don't care about MUFC finances either. Hopefully we can lose the next couple of games, and that will give a few players the extra nudge they need to leave this summer. Hopefully West Ham can over take us, and maybe Wolves

The knockout stage towards the end has been good in recent years, the likes of Barca, Dortmund, Ajax, Inter being involved. I wouldn't mind us getting there and having games like that in the first season under a new manager, especially with a chance of winning it and CL football as a a result. Really not bothered with the Conference though, complete waste of time.

Also helps bringing in new players if you've got some form of European football.

That is of course on based on the premise that we're at least 25% more enjoyable to watch and have some players that actually care about playing for us

I think its important to be in Europe, some of our fans may think us above certain competitions but the fact is we are not.

It’s not so much that we’re above Europe but just for one season it wouldn’t be the worst season to miss out on Thursday night football as a coach like Ten Hag would probably very much like entire week periods to instill coaching methods into his players both old and new. Even if you play the youth in the Thursday comps you still have to fly out to these games and disrupt training schedules. It would be the best thing for our chances of a proper reboot to give as much time as possible for Ten Hag to focus on what needs doing.

Europa is our best chance of cl football next season. We need it as we won’t get top 4

It's ridiculous to make this kind of assumption from so far out.

Frst, you've no idea how long it will take to improve under Ten Hag

Second, you don't know what overhaul the squad will get in the summer or what it will look like next season

Third, this widely-maligned squad will probably not make the CL this year, but if they do miss out, they'll only be a few points off ... why not think they can make up the necessary points under Ten Hag?

Finally, remember that even this current squad is better than the account they've given of themselves this season. They were good enough for 2nd and 3rd the past two seasons.

Your defeatist attitude is way overboard.

If you're gonna give youth a chance it may as well be worth it so Ropey league football would overall be of benefit to United even over the conference.

You don't want 10 Haag coming in to an easy life with the easy schedules of games on weekends only and then getting bamboozled the following season when European football is achieved and there's midweek games every week. It's better let him know what it's all about nice and early.

Whereas some teams do better in the league without European football, some of them have terrible next seasons after qualifying for Europe. Even Leicester have been crap with just the Conference league on Thursdays.

We've dropped 12 points v Burnley, Everton and Watford. Two of those teams are likely to go down. Even another six points gained in those games would see us in the CL places now.

If you look at it another way we've actually done quite well against the teams in and around us for 4th.

We've drawn with Chelsea
Beaten Spurs twice
Beaten West Ham twice
Beaten Arsenal

We still have games against Arsenal and Chelsea to come of course but it's not a terrible return.

I think us, arsenal and spurs in general terms have all been woeful this season, the fact were the clubs fighting for fourth is a scathing indictment of the quality of the league.

I mean, we can barely muster the required effort most weeks.

That said, i think ten hag would see the europa as a positive rather than a negative, more game time to introduce his methods and the very real possibility of European trophy at the end and the clubs first in what would be 7 years.

Agreed... I might even say that he would prefer it to the CL... Where the pressure and disappointment is almost inevitable at this stage of his rebuild

New manager in with new ideas more games the better. Let's him look at and give game time to fringe/youth players and it's essential to see who can develop.
