The Lukaku situation annoys me

I know I’m not a Chelsea fan and I have a fair bit of sympathy towards them for this, but my take on the Lukaku situation is that it’s an utter disgrace.

He signs for £98m and £300k a week for his ‘dream club’, plays badly and gets injured, then does a stupid interview 4 months after joining and downs tools.

Chelsea couldn’t have predicted this, but if I was them I’d have turned to Inter and said £80m and you can have him back, or feck off. An £8m loan fee is a joke; I’d personally rather stick him in the reserves.

We should’ve done the same with Pogba last summer to be fair. Find a new club, sign a contract or get in the reserves.

Player power is beyond a joke these days. Oh and I think it says a lot about Inter that they’ll take him back even though his attitude clearly stinks. I certainly wouldn’t have had him back.

At which point he’ll blame everyone but himself and demand a move somewhere else next summer I guess. Dunno which bridges he won’t have burned at that point though

Sounds like he’ll end up playing for Mourinho again at Roma.

And then we buy Abraham back and he flops?

98m was a joke in the first place, their own fault, it's always a risk at that price.

Paying that sort of money for the services of a player, who ever that player is, is a sick waste of resources. Two good seasons in Italy is a poor marker.

Same with Pogba, joke of a player who can't cut it in the premier league.

Exactly. Immobile gets 20+ in the Italian league most seasons. He flopped in Germany and Spain and his strike rate for the national team is slightly better than 1 in 4.

You’ll find the odd gem there as Liverpool have with Salah and Alisson and Spurs look to have with Romero but overall it’s a poor standard league these days.

Exactly. You’re going to find good players in most leagues but overall it is a poor and probably not the best place to judge a striker.

Yeah, people assume he’ll go back to his 20/21 inter form immediately, but without Conte he may not be as good. At which point he’ll blame everyone but himself and demand a move somewhere else next summer I guess. Dunno which bridges he won’t have burned at that point though

What's Chelsea's end game here though.

Is there any prospect of him being sold. A player in this situation is much better going on loan until their parent contract ends as they'll earn that full wage until then. Sanchez did it at united and while someone above classed the Italian league as a dumping ground for unwanted players, they view us as a source of cheap players whose wages will be partially covered.

Will Lukaku 'see out' his contract at CFC.

Shame really as we have probably the strongest link to Italy of all the PL clubs in terms of our historic players

We used to actually sign Italians tho

The endgame is subject to future events. How Lukaku's loan will play a big part. Maybe we will try to accrue a series of loan fees but I think it's more likely the club want the dust to settle so they can get a less shlt fee for him eventually
