There is no optimism from me because shower of shiiits is shower of Shiiits. You have two quality players in our squad and they are Ronaldo and DDG.

Even Pep, who is viewed as the best in this business, goes out to buy elite quality for his ideas to come to fruition. Erik in my opinion is being set up by this incompetent team from top to bottom and I feel sorry for him already.

Of course, for his system to work, we are going to lose and elite scorer and replace him with a workhorse and no goals. I hope then some idiots here will realise the importance of GOALS.

Football will be better... Finish anywhere between 4th or 6th... Depends on transfers (not just ours)

No optimism for improving league position, as it stands. Those who we should be looking to challenge have (with the exception of Chelsea) improved their squads and addressed areas of weakness. United meanwhile have been relaxed about the situation 🙄.

However, I do expect us to play much better football. And that in itself would be a triumph, as we've served up shiiiit for years on end

optimism, like pessimism, is pointless.

realism is pretty basic stuff - which has been absent for some considerable time but the future, at the risk of tiresome repetition:

1. depends if some kind of stability is reached with the coaching staff - 5 years minimum

2 depends if a starting xi of genuine quality in the right position is established

3. depends if recognition is made that 442 is a good 'starting point', with two proper wingers, 2 proper full backs that are actual defenders (not idiots like dalot or telles) and a proper choice[s] of strikers/cf

4 a goalkeeper that can be an asset to the back five rather than a worry/concern/liability

5 oh, and keep the good 'uns and dump the dross - like that is likely to happen.

all basic stuff, but sadly necessary before the gloss can be worked on

I'm optimistic because our most important signing was Erik Ten Hag who appears to be a top manager with an attacking outlook.
Also we seem to have a really good crop of youngsters coming through, Pellestri, Garner, Hannibal, Amad and others.
The defence was rightly slated last season, but individually the players should be better than than that, and I think the organization
pf McClaren and Erik will sort that out..
Donny coming back with a manager who knows him could be a revelation.
We have pace all across the forward line, which always scares the oppo,
so I'm very optimistic about next season, but it's uo to the new manager.
