Overrated Players: Us + Rivals Assessed

International break insanity! Who are our and our rivals most overrated players? I want to be fair here so I actually think some will be surprised at my inclusion of some of our lot, but fair is what I am and fair is what I will be moving forwards. Lets take the top 5 from last year and I will add comments on certain inclusions as to why I feel they're overrated:

Arsenal:

Tierney- made of glass, don't think I have seen him play 90 mins without going down injured for 5+ mins or being carried off

Jesus- the guy will never score 20 goals a season and despite his 'world class' start has only scored 4 times.

Chelsea:

Mount- is he really a great player? Not enough end product for me and been in for side years too. Will he ever push on??

Koulibaly- not a bad CB by any means but he's over 30 now and has always been clumsy in my opinion and not an elite CB

Man City:

Stones- not a top defender, benefits from City's possession based football as he doesn't have to defend very much. Under pressure he always has a mistake in him

Walker- from what I have seen this year his pace is in decline and that means big trouble. Positionally awful, he's relied on his turbo speed to bail him out for 10 years but I think he'll cost City a lot this season. Never a top RB.

Grealish- nothing needs to be said here

Liverpool:

Gomez- was very good when they won the title but now he looks like a timid mess. Doesn't impose himself enough on the attackers and gets bullied often

Robertson- nowhere near the same level he was 2 or 3 years ago. Looks fatigued constantly, not been the same since they won the title

Luis Diaz- this is controversial but the more I see him the more I think he's just a kick and rush player, without a proper footballing brain. Not in Mane's class

Man United:

Lisandro- the reality is he's too small to play CB for us... his passion can't be questioned but I feel he's not good enough to play in the middle of the back four. The fans are blinded by some of his enthusiasm, but if you watch him he's very vulnerable in that role. Rojo was similar, fans loved his passion etc, but he just wasn't good enough at all.

Antony- Apart from his goal vs Arsenal he seems unable to go past a player and at 100 million I think we've been had off somewhat. Never a good idea buying players from that league and this could be a bit of a sucker punch. Greenwood is/was far better in that position off the right.

Martial- Just F off already.... not good enough at all yet our fans still defend him.

Spurs:

Lloris- For an apparent 'World class' Gk he's awfully clumsy and has loads of mistakes in him. Has let Spurs down a lot over the years but their fans won't admit it.

Davies- Tottenham fans rave about him but he's average as anything and wouldn't make our bench.

Dier- This guy is the definition of a CB who isn't good enough to win big trophies. Immobile and lacks concentration, never pushed on from his form/potential around 2015/16 time when he looked like he could become a Man Utd player.

Jesus has been underrated for years. I wanted to chelsea to sign him. Arsenal have a class player

Rice

Rice is quality

Jesus has scored 20 goals in a season a couple of times and will do so for Arsenal playing at CF rather than often being deployed out wide for City.

Diaz is outscoring Mane (who hasn't scored in his last six games.... for Bayern Munich) and has posted better numbers than him since joining as well so he can kick and rush it all he wants because it works.

Gomez has had real bad luck with injuries and was always a player that needed 10 games to find his best form. I think he's been made a bit of a scapegoat at a time when Liverpool had lots of injuries and the whole team wasn't clicking.

If he played lots of games he'd get back to his best I've no doubt but Matip takes far less games to get upto speed. If he went a whole season either bad form it'd e a bit different but was always going to take Gomez a while to get upto speed. Klopp seemed to play him through necessity knowing he wasn't fully match fit.

No player should need 10 games. That is a terrible excuse for the player. He had a great chance with Matip and Ibou out and boy did he struggle. He lost a 50/50 to Bruno Penandes and then just got worse.

I think his days may be numbered, mainly down to injuries and now we don't have a peak VVD to bail him out.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
I mean to reach his best form, and in recent times its been after a long injury/lay off. Without a full pre season I wouldn't say that's unreasonable. You also can't ignore the fact Klopp knew he wasn't fully fit, and played his though necessity.

If he was fully fit and playing badly, when his club didn't have a long list of injuries, it'd be totally different. You can't ignore all those factors.

Jesus if anything is underrated. He might have "only" scored 4 goals but he along with Zinchenko and Saliba have shaped us into a team that can arguably compete realistically for top 4. But rival fans will keep labelling him as a man city reject.

I have always felt Jesus has been overrated from his City days. Their fans raved about him for years.

I thought he was incredibly overrated and wasn’t happy with him signing but so far he looks worth every penny, even if he doesn’t score enough goals.

Think most Arsenal fans prefer Zinchenko to Tierney. He was always one of those players that rival fans seemed to single out for credit if anything.

Think Tierney is better than zinchenko tbh. There's no need for the latter if Xhaka is playing.

The most overrated spurs player is definitely Romero.

Yeah, agreed, they should move zinchenko in midfield he’s looked good there, tierney is a better defender
