If/when the nukes start flying…

…how would we find out?

Of course if you were in the target zone you’d know pretty quickly but I wonder if you were in say, far northern Scotland or down here or nowhere near the epicentre what would be the next step? Would there be those phone SMS’ like the people of Japan got when North Korea launched missiles over the islands?

If it was a full on thousands of missiles style exchange then you can imagine the worlds networks would crash and then I guess we’d never actually know how many people died and how it went down as I’m sure at that point history books won’t be the main concern amongst the survivors.

As there’s a relatively mild chance of this all going down what contingency plans do you have? Watch Threads and hope for better.

Going back to the OP my main point was that if there was a massive exchange of nukes and the world as we know it ended I don’t suppose we’d ever know what actually happened (the survivors). We wouldn’t know who fired first or even probably what was left of the US and Europe as it would just be an irradiated mess for centuries to come.

I think we would know who started it and probably how it is going initially. So many platforms out there to get information and everything won't just go down in minutes.

I think to quell any fears people have, they should start showing those public information adverts about nuclear war that they showed in the 80's.

You’d expect something like that to cause ptsd. I think a lot of people from the wars suffered it without it being diagnosed.

Facking brutal. Those people weren’t conditioned for that type of warfare.

Yeah for sure. Those two wars massively changed the attitudes of the people in power regarding the considerations for life. It wouldn’t be acceptable nowadays. Luckily I think that’s why we’ve not had any major conflict since.
